Community Patch - Modpack (Multiplayer Compatible)

No problem. I've been considering trying to do this with RED and the CPP for a bit just never gotten around to it.

Have you tried it in multiplayer?
 
A fair number of desyncs and Quick Turns doesn't seem to work right... I think because of a fundamental design incompatibility with multiplayer. I will likely just play with the MPMP provided.

I was trying to read about desync problems... the thread is really long... do you know if the desync issue is largely fixed?
 
I've been playing with a friend and we're running into desyncs quite often on the 5.21 version. What logs exactly are needed for debugging purposes? I'm guessing the net_message_debug one, since it has some lines about out of sync stuff on turns it desynced, but not sure.
 
How are the "CommunityPatch only" versions for desyncs?

btw the latest beta version of the CommunityPatch only (MP_MODSPACK_5-21_CPonly) I can't get working. No problems with the latest stable
 
Hi,

I am currently playing the latest Vox Populi release (15/06) and I would like to set it up as a DLC for easier use (precisely, to avoid that annoyant mod menu that loads or unloads everything whenever you want to change a generation setting for instance.. which for me leads to CDT by the way).
So, I thought I might install the multiplayer pack but I see the latest version for the pack is dated from 09/03..

So my question is (before I mess up with my clean CBP installation) :

- is it ok (is this the way to go ?) to replace the multiplayer pack mods contents with the mods from the latest Vox Populi release ?
- I see a lot of other files (in "override" and "ui" folders) which don't have counterpart in the standard release, so will it work or do these files need modifications too ?

Sorry, I have been very busy lately so I wasn't around for a while. I'll update the modpacks when I'm back home in a few days!

Thanis: replacing the files won't work. 09/03 is ony the latest stable release. You can check the beta modpacks folder for later beta versions.

Thank you for all your great work on this mod! Me and my husband are playing the CP only version (currently the latest beta) and we absolutely love it!

I did had a few inquiries, if you don't mind me asking.

We played several months ago on the version that was out in January. I do recall from that time that the AI in multiplayer actually contacted you diplomacy wise with a small pop up. Like they greeted you when you first met, they asked for trade deals etc.

I noticed in the March version and latest beta version this is not the case anymore. Will this be back in future versions? We really loved that feature.

(unless I am really mistaken and we used another mod. We did use "dH's Active AI Diplomacy in MP" before discovering this mod but I remember at given time your mod did the same so we removed his mod).


My second inquiry is about the latest versions (actual release and beta). In the actual release there is additional items like tech trading, vassal states. In the latest beta there are "events", you can't seem to turn off.
I know those were all features in CIV IV and some really like them. I was just wondering if these are meant to stay in the CP only version?
If so, could you perhaps add an option to make events optional? :-3

I have been trying the 4/23 patch out for a while now and tried the first time with AI.

Map: East vs. West (Small)
Teams: 2
Players: 2 human vs 2 AI
Difficult: Emperor
Version: 4-23 Beta EUI


Everything was great until we found the AI. Everytime they proposed an trade, we got desync.

Tried trading between each other and it was no problems, if we ignore the trade there was no problem.

Can you turn off the ability for them to trade?

At round 147 with at least 50 desyncs it was getting anoying as hell and we stopped playing.

Firstly thank you Lynnes and Gazebo, amongst others for putting this together, myself and a friend have been playing it religiously over the past few weeks after discovering this patch.

The only issue we consistently run into is desyncs; we will typically desync ~ every to every other turn. We have tried various workarounds posted in this thread to no avail. The only thing that seems to quell the desyncs is to play the game without barbarians, however we'd prefer to not do that as barbarians are an important part of the game!

We both completely uninstalled civ, deleted all local content (Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V/* & ../Steam/steamapps/common/Sid Meier's Civilization V/*) and re-installed fresh from Steam. We then copied the Community patch (V 3-9) into our DLC folders and started a new multiplayer game (we don't use any other mods). I have attached the logs for that game, in which we experienced desyncs on turns 1 and 5 (at which point we quit the game).

The game was pretty typical for us; random civs, random map, standard pace, standard size, 4 teams of 2 players, the other 3 teams being all AI (quick movement, no vassalage, no tech brokering).

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help test or to remedy the problem, as the desyncs are quite a nuisance as the game continues.

Me and my partner are now playing CPProject Full currently.

With the 4/23 version we noticed a lot of desyncs happening around turn 100. Almost every (other) turn.

If we try the latest beta it's entirely unplayable for us since the corporations and monopolies screen is stuck on my screen after launching the game. No way to get rid of it.

Any ideas why this might happen?


also question: is it possible to update the folders ourselves to the latest community patch?

i played some games with a friend to study desync.
J1 has a pcmr (i7, 16go, sdd, 980GTX)
J2 has an ultrabook (asus taichi)
We are on the same room, j1 connected via wire, j2 connected via wifi. we use the internet option and steam invite to start the game. our internet connection is fiber optic.

two games:

In the first, we tried with the barabarians: desync on turn 2 then every turn. We stopped very early.

In the second, we tried without UEI and without barbarian: No desync until turn 90 then a desync almost every turn. we stopped shortly after. our logs:

If you want, we can test a specific configuration. Tell me.
(we can also test with two power-user pc).

1)How different is current multi player version to latest single player version?
2)What are major bugs and imbalances in current MP version?
3)Can I play latest SP version in multiplayer somehow?

We are running into a problem with the version with UI which is that the option to fire on enemy units is not there from cities, even though we receive the notification that we can. The icon itself doesnt appear.

I then tried the version without the UI, but that leads to us not being able to select any units hence not ever placing a city or anything. Please let me know what I can do to change this.

We are using no other mods, we have the same version and all DLCs. Both down loaded the mods and put them in the correct location as it was indicated.

no ui_bc1 folder inside your dlc folder?
you both clean your cache before launching ciV?
 
Just installed and began playing, but there is no city name box that appears while in game. Where there should be the city population/religion/name/production is just nothing.
Is this intended and if it is, is there a way to disable this?

Friend had the same problem, remove all files including those in your documents folder and reinstall. That solved it!

This solves Mohib55s problem to.
