Communual corruption love it/hate it

For a 15+ war I find comminism quite usefull... If you have a 30+ war you can't live without com. If you have 10- wars then you dont nedd to switch to com. The usefullness depends on the style you are playing. A game where you are in constant war is a game where you will be a communism rather than a democracy...

:rotfl:Hey my first post heres my little maybe stupid or obviously obvious idea[plasma]

if u play on archepeligo or small continents or ur on a island with 1 or 2 other civs besides u.

Kill the enemy FAST or try to outexpand them and make peace if u trying out expanding....

i played a game and wuz about to kill the aztecs but i waited to long and lost all my people and because i got in trouble with the persians and thos darn immortals (this is turning into a story but it has to end soon) so i got alll p.o.ed and left that game and started a new one

man....maybe i should play maps smaller than huge and with fewer civs than the max....but small games are soooooo boring cuz they are sooooooo ez.... maybe i should try a diffculty harder than warlord(i never use chieftan except the first game i played....)
:band:
soooo many elipses(elispses are the ...'s):rotfl:

Communism is not so good with many cities. If you want to play good with Communism you should have near optimum city numbers, and Courthouses and Police Stations in every city. Use Democracy to prepare, then shift to Communism while ready.

Yep, I'm no expert on Communism but here's what I've gathered so far. Most governments base corruption on the distance from your capital or forbidden palace, but Communism does not. As you go over the optimal number of cities in non-communist governments your further cities are going to be hit with SEVERE corruption, but at least your core cities will still be looking good. In Communism if you go over the optimal number of cities then ALL your cities will suffer. Therefor it seems like a good idea to stay below the optimal number of cities for Communism. So its a good government if you have a very spread out empire, but not if you have a large number of cities.

Im playing a huge Emperor game and have 49 or 50 cities at last count. The corruption i experience under communism isnt bad at all, and 1 courthouse is usually good enough to keep the city very productive. Though on high commerce cities by the sea i do have police stations. I dont see this mass degredation of my cities due to corruption kicking in. If 50 cities is not enough, when should i expect to see major problems?

I'm not sure about the number of optimal cities for a Huge map, but I know for Large its 24... so maybe 36 for Huge? 50 or so shouldn't be that bad especially if you're using courthouses and police stations. If you are using a commercial civ that helps even more.

You'd have to check alexman's thread to get more specific numbers but the more cities you get the worse your corruption becomes empire-wide. According to the formulas there it can get so bad you'll have 95% corruption in every city, even your capital. But feel free to test it to be sure, I could be totally wrong. I'm guessing 100 cities would be good for crippling a Communist gov? Not sure.

I switched to communism for the hell of it in my standard map monarch game. I really didn't notice that bad of corruption. In my 15 or so core cities production went down maybe 10%. While in the other 35 cities it went up drastically. I controlled about 60% of the land. I ended up switching to monarchy for one reason; I wanted to rush buy things rather than use the whip. Usually I'd be in democracy but I was in a extremely prolonged war trying to take out a very strong civ.
