compatibilty problem with windows vista

I had the game on my windows xp and it worked great but awhen i installed it on my laptop which has vista the game installed w/o a problem but when i try to run it i get kicked and get a message that wasys the game ha compatibility problems.......
i used the same game patches i d\l and used to install the game on the other comp...
hmmmm i have the complete version i guess cause it has civ VI and warlords and beyond the sword and another smaller patch. if anyone knows how to resolve this issue i would be verry gratefull cause i love this game.
P.S. i am computer stupid which meens if u can keep it simple or play by play it would be best

install the 1.61 patch
then install the 1.74 patch
in both cases right click on the installer and choose run as admin
it should work then.
