I tried to search the forums for some info but I didn't find anything useful. My monitor refresh rate and game refresh rate both match, I've updated all my drivers for my sound card, video card and OS. Most of the time when it freezes it's at the start of a new turn for myself. Although it does do it sometimes when I try to save. Really not sure what's causing it. I've built this system myself, had no problems running this on my laptop, aside for it being very slow. Current specs are:
Windows XP Pro SP2
NVidia Geforce 6600 GT 256mb
Realtek AC97 Audio
1GB Ram
AMD Athlon 3700+ 2.2Ghz
My CPU isn't overheating, I can't even get it to run over 44 C, and that's with just one fan. The only thing I can think of trying, which honestly I'd rather do if nothing else will work, is re-installing. Call me stubborn I guess, but I'd rather have it be a driver problem.
Reason being, is I installed Complete, but also downloaded ALL of the patches and ran each. Could this have been the possible problem?
EDIT: I grew unstubborn and reinstalled Civ 3 Complete... the problem still persists.
EDIT: I've also now tried turning off animations and the sound. I still have the problem.
EDIT: Just incase anyone is wondering, I beleive I found a solution. I had to disable my Realtek AC97 Audio built in sound card. For some reason that was causing the problems. I have yet to crash since disabling it. I guess now I just have to invest in a new sound card.
Strange, even though the sound card driver was updated to the newest one. Guess it's just a problem.
