I know this thread is about computer games but please don't move it inot the computer section as I doubt that many people look there.

Ok, I am deciding to look into getting new computer games.
NO mmorpgs, relatively unstable games, guts or other gore or excessive blood or viloence (manhunt).

Considering Maybe: Battlefront 2, KOTOR, BFME 1,

Looking into: Starcraft, Anything else by Blizzard, Battle for middle earth 2, Planescape:Torment, Star Trek Games,

Hopefully (likely, but with so many games...): Homeworld 1 + 2, Total war series, Baldurs Gate series, Warcraft 3, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of war + expansion, Civ4, AOE3, TESIII: Oblivion, Command and Conquer: Generals, Galactic Civilizations, Neverwinter Nights,

*QUESTIONS*:
1: How unstable is KOTOR?

Reasons:
1: No MMORPGS (WOW): I am on dialup, and highspeed is delayed due to a strike. 110 megabyte patch would take aprox. 18 days. MY COMP NEEDS UPGRADING.
2: I don't want games that aren't stable, I have enoguh probs fixing morrowind.

Trust me, people do look in Other Games. This thread should belong there anyway ;).

Get them all. :D

Also,

Command and Conquer: Generals(RTS).
Galactic Civilizations(Like civ, only in space).
Starcraft. (I'm surprised you don't have this, it's one of the best RTS games ever.)
Anything else by Blizzard, because they are awesome. ;)
Neverwinter Nights(RPG).

I'd suggest World of Warcraft, but you said no mmorpg, so I won't. :(

KOTOR for the PC has been patched enough that it is stable so you should definitely get that.

All the things listed under hopefully are good too.

In Battle For Middle Earth you choose to play good or evil. In the good campaign you essentially follow the movies. In the evil campaign you do additional things that weren't in the movies like kill the Ents. Both campaigns are of the same length though.

Neverwinter Nights:
Quite possibly one of the best RPG's you will find. The storyline that came with the game is really good, and the options to create(or level up) your character is almost endless. If you do buy Neverwinter Nights, I would recommend buying it with the two expansions. They add tons of new stuff, and more modules!

Knights of the Old Republic:
Made by the same company that made Neverwinter Nights, VERY good RPG also. The storyline is much better than in NWN, but it lacks behind NWN with it's openness and character creation. Still a VERY good game. It also has a sequal, KOTOR II: The Sith Lords. The second one is also really good, and if you liked the orginal, I would recommend buying it. If you do get it though, prepared to be disappointed. Great game, even better than the first one, but they completely screwed up the ending.

Blizzard Games:
Starcraft and Diablo II are both good games, there getting on in age, but there still capable of sucking away your life.

Add Planescape:Torment on your list. It has the best storylines ever in PC games.

Hopefully (likely, but with so many games...): Homeworld 2, Total war series, Baldurs Gate series, Warcraft 3, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of war + expansion, Civ4, AOE3, TESIII: Oblivion, Command and Conquer: Generals, Galactic Civilizations, Neverwinter Nights,

You have it right there my man. Though for goodness sake do yourself a favour and get the original Homeworld. Tis beautiful.

Every think of Star Trek Games?

Amusingly, some good ones out there. Especially Birth of the Federation if you like Civ. If you can find it...

Total Annihilation!! And try to get the expansion pack 'Core Contingency', and if you get bored, search for and download the UTASP-mod.

And this game really kicks ass online. The only RTS I enjoyed on-line.

If you can find it, you definetly should get it.

Also Get Baldurs gate as soon as possible.

Though to get Neverwinter I suggest waiting for the diamond edition to come out in about a month or so. It has the original, the 2 expansions and the premium module, Kingmaker, for only $29.99, compared to platinum edition with the same minus Kingmaker for $39.99 out right now.

And yes get the blizzard games, especcially Warcraft 3.

Homeworld 1 is superior to Homeworld 2 in terms of gameplay
Baldurs gate 2 is the only one I would buy from the series, Dont bother about NVN unless u intend to play on the web via custom relams, Thou it dose has a lot more mods the BG2
Warcraft 3, Warhammer 40k skip theses substandard RTS, I found WH40k disappointing. Possibly since I played GC2
Generals was good especially multiplayer and co-op
RTW series I would recommend highly since you havent played STW or MTW

Definitly buy RTW first
