Computer infected with Malware Protection

I'm not sure how, but I somehow managed to infect my computer with Malware Protection. I tried to simply deleted, but since it's in use I couldn't, so I tried to turn it off via Task Manager, which the virus blocked on the grounds that it's supposedly infected. I also tried using Malwarebytes, and lo and behold, the bloody virus blocked as well! So tell me, how can this damn virus be removed?

Try running in safe mode to remove the rouge program (Malware Protection is one, it's basically a virus disguising itself as a legit program).

This happened to my coworker last week. I took care of it with spybot.

Can't really help you without a screenshot or something similar, though.

Sounds like rogueware -- try Malwarebytes

Malware Bytes doesn't work, and yes: I do indeed recognize that it's a rogue software (hence the title).

Oops, I read too fast. If you have windows installation disc it may be better to backup & reinstall
