Is it true that the touchpads on early laptops were actually just upside down ball mice?

No, touchpads were never upside down mice. However, early laptops did use trackballs, which are essentially upside down mice. In fact, the first time I saw a trackball was playing Missile Command in the very early 80's.

So i just moved all of my songs from iTunes to my external hard drive, but there is still a majority of songs still in iTunes that i didn't delete despite transferring them. My question is this: If I delete the rest of the songs from iTunes, then delete iTunes (because it has been crashing every time i use it), is that a wise choice? Will I be able to still download a version of iTunes (hopefully that won't crash) and have it play my songs from external hard drive?

What I mean is that you can import all the JPEGs into your animation editor.

Oddness: I closed firefox and reopened it and all the bookmarks disappeared. So I closed and reopened it again several times and they were still missing. So then I killed the process and restarted and they came back. What happenned?

Firefox had a glitch. Be glad you got them back. Then back them up. I've known a dozen people, including myself, who have had the bookmark file just disappear.

Didnt you have a thread where you asked how you can restore them?

I had that happen to me twice. The first time I freaked out and reinstalled, and my information was there. The second time I think I figured out somehow FF opened in Safe Mode. I was extremely pissed because I had a lot of information I was storing in FF that was apparently gone.

FF has an add on for backing up your data. It's called FEBE.

I backup regularly anyways. :)

Sleep puts the computer into a low power mode. It's still active and can recover quickly when you're ready to use it.

Hibernate saves the computer's memory to the hard drive and powers it down. When the computer restarts and the OS loads, it detects that it has to load the hibernation file instead of loading the OS 'normally'.

The main difference is, if the power goes out while you're in sleep mode, you've lost your session. Since the computer is already powered off in Hibernation, it doesn't hurt anything.

Just out of curiosity, do all HDD on the market tiday have the same standardized size (Length, Witdh, & Height)? I am wondering since I am going to buy a secondary HDD (after my desktop gets back from repairs) and unsure if HDD follows a standard dimension size.

Yes, they're all the same size. Well, there are a couple of different sizes, meant for desktops and laptops or external shells, but they're all the same size. Either 3.5" or 2.5". You could obviously mount a 2.5" w/ the proper adapter to hold it in the slot, and also obviously you couldn't make a 3.5" fit into a 2.5" slot.
