I've been noticing this issue happening recently but it could just be a hiccup. While playing on the computer, I'll have three windows open, World of Warcraft, Firefox and mIRC. What will happen is that WoW will freeze, then after a few seconds, Firefox, then mIRC and then finally my cursor. This will happen over the course of a minute and all the while, Ctrl-Alt-Del won't work. It results in me having to do a hard restart.

I've been noticing this happening after installing Stardock's Impulse and it usually occurs after 5-6 hours of continuous operation. I would highly prefer not to do a total system reinstall.

At the moment, I can only recommend contacting Stardock to see if other people had the same problem. Stardock generally has forums for their users to use. Maybe you can find something when someone else had a similar problem. If so, see what the other person did to fix it. Perhaps you could remove Impulse?

Well World of Warcraft hasn't really hasn't caused any trouble. I did as Phlegmak suggested and uninstalled Impulse so I'll see how that handles.

A full system format doesn't bother me that much but just the time it would take to reinstall my games is tedious.

Start with just the programs that are running at that time. System format is always a viable option with windows, but you don't want to do it before you have to.

Also, try updating your drivers. Particularly motherboard and graphics. More than one slowdown has been caused because the graphics of a program exceeded what the driver knew how to do.

So far so good. I ran my computer without the issue popping up for 4 hours but I'll keep cautious. Chances it could also be one of those random things that happen on occasion.

I ran my computer continuously for 7 hours yesterday so I guess it was either a fluke or it was particularly warm that day.
