CONES2-North America

Orders:

Expand north and south along the Mississippi.

Recruit 10 new warriors.

Begin building "canoes" or boats that can travel up and down the Mississippi river.

Send the 10 new warriors with our finest fish and jewelry to trade with the dark green and pink tribes. ( I will call the dark green and pink tribes , Northern and Southern Messissippians from now on )

Begin looking everywhere in our territory for any new metals (e.g. bronze silver iron copper etc.)

ORDERS:

Send scouts out in every which direction and begin to make friends.

Begin to develop a currency, wampum. It is a belt made of beads and represents hard labor. It can be used for trade instead of corn and can be much better at showing worth than corn.

Develop a holiday called 'Christmas' it is a holiday celebrating the winter solstice and is a time of good will toward fellow man.

Arm 25 new warriors with bows. (darts and sligns never developed here)

Give land plots to each clan to further their corn production and to help with their domesticated animals.

Build a wooden palisade around our town for defense.

Coast Salish Orders:
  • Sent scouts out to find other tribes
  • Increase our military
  • Expand our Kingdom, especially on the Island, and along the River (Fraser)
  • Build more cities, and roads, and ask people to move to the cities, and live there, and trade.

OOC - crappy orders, sorry. I'm tired.

I think we just need Insane Panada because Cuivienen is on vaction I believe; then I will update.

Reich Orders
Send scouts out, especially along the sacremento river

Send diplomats south to befriend the southern tribe

Draft all men from the villages to fight for their fuhrer in the armed forces, while the women work on domestic things such as food to grow economy. Tell them that they must reproduce as much as possible during peace times for the fuhrer, and for their people.

Begin a council of Elders, when the men reach age 40, above the fighting age, they will go into this group to study the sciences and direct the men in battle during war times. The fuhrer is the head of this council, and the councilmembers will also act as religious figures

Update 2

The Ojibwa have expanded along the shore of the lake, now called Lake Ojibwa by the locals. Ample amount of fish have been found to the east as this has become a source of food for the Ojibwa. The demand is growing higher for this food in the capital as travel is slow and there no roads. So for now it is a local luxury in the areas it is fished at. Hollowed out half tree trunks or canoes have appear on Lake Ojibwa. It is an early effort for travel and transportation on the lake but it has its flaws. The current design can only carry 3 people and those people have to paddle the canoe to get it to move where they want. Cargo space on the canoe is small so it cannot carry much. It can mostly only sail in the coastal waters. The ship has one good use; it can be used for fishing as fisherman spear their prey in the shallow coastal waters and transport the fish back to shore. It is a slow process and does not meet the yield of the fishing in the east. Ojibwa’s have been tinkering with the resource they call “copper” and some information has been uncovered about the resource. It was found to be easily manipulated into shapes by beating it with stones. Copper tipped spears and arrows have been created. The population has nearly tripled in the past years and contact has been made with a tribe to the south who call themselves the “Wisconsin” and a tribe to the SE which call themselves the “Michigan”. Little is know about them but they seem similar to the Ojibwa.

The Toltec contact the city states to the south. Not much is know about them besides their names, Morelos, Guerrero, Mexica, Tlaxcala, Totonac. It is apparent that they are warring with each other as Toltec scouts have discovered recently killed humans with apparent wounds from fighting in the wilderness. The squabbling city-states ask the Toltec scouts to come to their aid. Each tribe has the same plea “Join us in our war to destroy the enemy. The rewards are great.” Back in Tula, a primitive temple is constructed to the gods. The temple made out of the stone and scarce wood is dedicated to the gods of the Toltec; the chief gods being Quetzalcoatl, Tezcaltlipoca, and Tlaloc. A fierce cat, which the locals call a jaguar had been captured and sacrificed to the gods. Meanwhile the Toltec have come to a breakthrough in weaponry as Ce actl and his exploration party discovered obsidian; a black hard stone found around mountains that spit fire. Already this resource has been embedded in pieces of wood and used as a weapon. Population has doubled but a new source of food is needed to support this continuing growing population.

Coast Salish began an effort to encourage people to expand into new cities but this has not been successful. The people of Coast Salish like their homes in the capital where the fish is plentiful and do not want to move inland into the mountains. Expansion on the island goes well as it is the only real place the citizens want to move to. Transportation is still slow but a small village has been founded on the island. It is mainly a fishing village, where fish can be brought to dry on the beaches and sold to the local tribes. Roads were attempted to be built but the rugged terrain make this construction difficult and futile as people are mostly living along the coast and use canoes to travel. Established tribes to the south have been contacted; they call themselves the Chehalis and the Yakama.

The Mohawks have taken a step forward in trade. They have developed a currency that can be used in business. The Wampum is a belt of beads, which symbolizes hard work. This revolutionary idea is having a hard time catching on as the farmers and merchants are accustomed to bartering rather than a currency. Only the small upper class is using the beads as they are the only one who can afford to produce them in significant numbers. The lower class continues to uses the old method of “I will trade you 20 pieces of corn for your fish.” On the farming front, the Tribal Chief has granted land to the 4 clans that make up the Mohawk nation. This land is intended to boast corn production and help with domesticating animals. A holiday has been developed; “Christmas” or the celebration of the winter solstice has begun in the Mohawk nation. 3 day festivals mark this celebration during the shortest days of the year. Contact has been established with the Pomaria, Mohicans, and the Afros.

The Mississippi tribe has expanded along the great river that they believe Axecutacatol created. This god is worshiped as the only god. They believe he gave the Mississippians the river to protect and exploit. Contact has been established with the Missouri (north) and Arkansas (south) tribes. 10 warriors were sent to these new tribes to trade fish and beads, which the tribes accepted and gave back their own beads and wheat. Canoes were constructed to navigate the river which has the potential to be a major trade and transportation route.

The Das Reich began by expanding along the river and contacted the 2 tribes of Black Bear and Blue Sea. All of the men of the nation were forced into the military causing discontent among the populous. The women were left at home to feed and run the economy of the nation. But they lacked the necessary skills to do so. When they were told to reproduce, they looked at the Fuhrer bewildered. How were they to reproduce if all their men were drafted into the army and off training and expanding? Population growth was extremely slow and they are lucky they made it thru the winters. A council of Elders was formed which was intended to study sciences and give orders to the troops. But there are more pressing issues in the tribe than science as unless something is done, the tribe risks starving.

Join us against the tyrannry in the Morelos(pink), Mexica(green) and Totonac (brown). We are the last line of defense against freedom. If we are defeated, you will be next.

OOC: Sorry MjM and Josef, I was getting tired at the end so I couldn’t write much. Another thing, it is not a smart idea to draft your entire male population into the army; it creates problems in your tribe. Josef, I let you off easy this time but next time I will be harsher.

Mixcoaltl stood on the same hillside overlooking Tula as he had those many years before. The years flew by his mind as he looked back on the early days. As he shifted back to the present he was again reminded that his time was soon at an end and a sucessor would come soon. He had overscene the coming of his people to this new land and their prospering in it. But the work of the priest-king was never done. They had discovered several warring villages to the south but so far had managed to avoid being involved. How much longer this could last he did not know. Prehaps it was time to fortify the outer village? As he looked at the high noon sun, he realized it was time for his meeting with apec the tool maker, who's experiments with " melting" rocks had begat some results he claimed.

Mixcoaltl: greetings apec, I'm here to see for myself your gains for the tribe

Apec: Greeting my lord, I hope you well be pleased

Mixcoaltl: Then by all means lets begin!

Apec: yes honored lord, as I told you last moon, while building my fire pit for working tools, I had lined it with several unusal rocks I hasd found I this new lands. At the end of the night I noticed the yellow one had actually "melted" much like animal lard, then got hard again. Curious I gathered several of these yellow rocks and applied heat from fire to them in differant amounts and volumes. I found I could melt a great amount. Even harden it is shapable by pounding and bending. I have made a great many small items from it.

Mixcoaltl: So this rock could replace our current obsidian weapons and make us invincible!

Apec: ahemmmm, no my lord, while useful, it is not better than obsidian for weapons.

Mixcoaltl: Oh, that is it than?

Apec: Oh no my lord, while teating the yellow rock I have named gold, I have found another rock, a redish one " melts"Too.

Mixcoaltl: would did you do, go around and test every colored rock in the land ? < ha, ha, ha >

Apec: Well yes lord, after finding the gold I took the sacred peyote and walked withe the Gods and was shown the path. I tested several rocks till I found the redish one which melted. I have named it copper, it is harder than gold but still shapable>

Mixcoaltl: Great!!! so this is the new weapon we will use to conquror the world.

Apec Ahmmm, no lord obsidian is still better.

Mixcoaltl: Why have you wasted my time than < anger >

Apec: Acourse not my lord, I have some more, when I accidently mixed some of the copper with a whitish/gray melted rock, it hardened into a super hard rock of great strength. The problem is I can make it but am unable to bend or shape very well at this time, for now it is beyond me.

Mixcoaltl: This new rock, it will make better weapons?

Apec: Oh yes lord, once I've mastered it.

Mixcoaltl: Then from this day on you have no other job but this, your appprentice will take over your duties. I will assign 2 others to assist you. These first stones, the gold and copper, is there any use for them ?

Apec: I made this my lord.
Apec pulls out a golden mask with colored shiny stones for eyes, and so polished it reflected the very sun.

Mixcoaltl: By the very Gods, it is beautifull, A gift worthy of the priest-king to wear. You have others?

Apec: yes, nose rings, ear rings, hair pins, cups, plates--you name it

Mixcoaltl: you made all this things already? why

Apec: The strangers, to trade with the strangers.

Yes, the strangers would pay well for such items--what did they have to offer the tribe in trade? He would send parties to each of the warring villages to talk trade and learn from each of the others till we know as much as we can, village names, leaders, # of warriors, weapons, all we can.
