Conquest maps: the Star Series

You should update your maps for 1.20 patch

I have been updating some of my maps for my mod. Before adding the 70 or so extra resources that I have, I thought I would post a Conquests compatible version for public use. Here it is:

Here is a screenshot of Lesath. It has 8 continents with 4 starting locations each, and is basically an archipelago. It will get crowded early on Lesath if you play with the max of 31 civs! This ought to be a good map for those of you who like naval warfare. ;)

Hi, Quasar could you post the rest of the mod, my computer doesn't have all the units/resources that you added to the game. Thanks

Sorry, Beernuts, not quite done with the mod. I should not have included all those extras just yet...

Another of my vanilla civ maps now updated for Conquests, is Lyra. I have added the marsh and volcanoes, and the plague for this planet is hepatitis. Sugar and tobacco are luxuries. In the screenshot below, you can see that Lyra has several continents, and a few small offshore islands. The trick is that one of the smaller islands contains ALL of a certain type of strategic resource. The file follows in the next post.

I will probably post my mod in August, once my kids have left for the summer.

I will be going on vacation for a month, so I will post 2 more maps before I leave. The first is my Markab map. It is a 2-year old map, updated for Conquests. That means sugar and tobacco are luxuries; 31 civs are playable, etc. Markab is a pangaea of standard size. Here is a screenshot:

Mintaka is a huge map. It has 5 main continents, and plenty of small islands. However, all 31 civs start out on the same continent, so be warned! Will you fight for control over the ancient homeland, or emigrate to new lands? You decide!

Enjoy Mintaka! See you in mid-August! :D

sounds veeeery interesting!

send over a few settlers on suicide galleys and disband your capital as soon as you've crossed over.

but some flaws in this concept:
- what if you don't start at the coast? conquer your way there?
- without seafaring trait you have virtually no chance of crossing that ocean
- the AI can't handle the situation

Nobody starts at the coast on Mintaka. Yes, you'd need at least one coastal city to reach another continent.

I play-tested it... and was not the first to colonize other continents. But I did get there in time to build up a nice set of cities abroad.

When I play-tested it, the Byzantines gave me fits. They seemed to settle just ahead of me. It was only because I was able to rush build my forbidden palace on the new continent, that I was able to surpass them. But you're right, a human ought to be able to out-think the AI on this map. Of course, someone who doesn't peek at the map first, might be challenged even more!

Gotta run, see you in mid-August!

:bump: <bump>

Okay, so I realized I never finished my mod. I got hit with Hurricane Ivan while living in Mobile, Alabama. I had it with that place, so a few months later I moved to California. After years of playing Civ 4, then 5, I realized I missed Civ 3, and started playing it again.

I have began re-working my mod, and am play-testing it. But for those of you who were not around in 2004, I had uploaded several fantasy maps on this thread. I can't say when I will get done with my mod, as I am having some crashes and other bugs. It won't be before April, though, as I am going on a Caribbean cruise in March. :D
