Conquest of the World

@Guard: Welcome to CFC! [party]

502nd PIR - Marines are the same as ever. 12/6/1. Going for tanks right away just seemed too easy. By the time I realized the Celts were actually doing some damage it was too late to switch.

choxorn - Your list is correct, although China is in danger more because of technology problems than size.

Guard - Did I ever say I had a bad starting spot:scan: ? Poor perhaps, or difficult, but I don't think I ever said bad. I've also had worse, this one is not great though. It provided a good challenge. I don't think I was the leader of a "this is a horrible starting location worse than a huge desert" group.

I wouldn't consider it a "godforsaken rock" - small island seems more accurate. It provided for a decent standard of living way back when.

Keep playing Civ, and you ought to rise to Regent or Monarch. I stayed on the lower levels for quite a while, too. But just experience will be enough to get you to those levels eventually. :)

Almost missed that that was your first post! Welcome to CFC!!! [party]

dutchking - Were you in the Marines? They're quite amazing. But I thought you were Dutch...

I left off the link to music; perhaps that was a good decision.

I just listed anybody that was in danger of death. India and China are going to be the first to die, though, since they are at war.

Ah... This reminds me of the medium-sized desert and hills I started in in my story...

I second that.

Are you referring to the Marine hymn?

And, finally, I ask this question again:

Hey, could we see the world map?

:D :p

Thanks for the clarification on that. I still think marines were given too low of a defense.

Guard, welcome to CFC.

Hey Dutch, if you were a marine, thank you for your service. if not, then forget i said this.

Nah, I'm an American, since 1639. I'm too young to be in the marines, i just like the song. But I'm like that guy in Forest Gump who for every american war he had an ancestor who's fought in them. Same with me. I'm named after a Marine-Army man.

I'll forget it...You can thank my ancestors though...I love you guys at civfanatics...

Are you by any chance from new amsterdam? (imagine if they changed the laws to be like amsterdam. that would be hilarious.)

You mean NY, eh? My dutch ancestors didn't get here till the 1700's. I'm more English actually. The dutch are VERY liberal...even I'm not that liberal......Whatever, back to the story...

So you are researching tanks now, correct?

I like the mix of narrative and documentary. Keep up my favorite story! :goodjob:

I would go for planes first. Celtic Infantry don't have to be killed if they're already dead.

Well, there's the fun of- Look! A distraction!

You've got to take out Russia and India...enough with those culture flips...just the fact that they can happen is bad...and will take up resources. Its time for them to DIE!

mwahahaha!

Might be taking a break from this (and the rest of Civ) for 3-4 weeks. I'm just a little bit civved-out right now, and the uber-long turn times aren't helping. I'll visit with family, play some other games, and pretty soon I'll be back into Civ (it's worked before and I'm sure it will again). But right now, when the Middle Ages scenario doesn't even sound that fun, it's time to take a little break.

As to Russia, yeah, they still have Tasmania. If I were the CivIII historian, my next history would have to have
8). The Forgotten Russians

But at least one more update is coming soon...I've played the next section and I'll post it tomorrow.

They would be far below 8th on the list, my friend.

Does this mean no updates for a month?

Yeah, probably...let the guy relax for a few minutes, it'll put him back on his game...meanwhile I'd like to play the Napoleon scenario! I think this is a really good story and it's worth the wait for another update. :goodjob:
