Conquests features comprehensive survey

When can I see it in store? (I don't check all previous messages. So excute me if it is mentioned somewhere). Thanks.

:rocket: Consider yourself executed. Check here (one thread away) for reports of who has it and who doesn't. Some stores got it on shelves today, some tomorrow, some two weeks from now.

Will the game be faster than before? I hate to play one game for a whole month.
Then either:
Play on smaller maps, or
select the Accelerated Production setting.

Personally, I like large maps, and do not mind at all if a single game lasts 1-3 months!

For a quicker game you can always leave your city/ies undefended and see what the AI does. :D

What happened to the combined city Wonder building I read about somewhere? Was this something in the beta that was dropped out? I thought it was a great idea, ever since Civ3 came out I have been infuriated that there is no way to speed up wonders except by a randomly occuring leader. In Civ2 I always built key wonders in less than a dozen turns with lots of caravans.

It was in an early preview but it was probably misinterpreted.

I ask that couse I read earlier that swamp tile can have "fish" as recourse. It was kind of silly if you clear swamp and fish stay on dry land :D . Maybe they change that or I didn't understand that clearly. Or they learn workers to swim.;)

Of course people make lakes in such case in real life, but it's only a game:)

Hey, great point, Alone, and I didn't know until my first game. Check out my screen shot in Conquests Scenario Won!. Fish DO swim in the grass!

Thanks for information. It looks odd. Some kind of MineFish..;) .

And congrutalation on your first victory in Conquest:goodjob: !

You get the fish problem in regular civ3 also.

I played a game over a year ago which had fish in a coastal tile. Then due to global warming in late game the coast became a desert tile - but the fish icon was still there.

I can not remember if you got the bonus from the fish or not. It may have been just a graphic problem.

But hey - in Africa some fish do hibernate in the ground during droughts and come alive when the rains come - so at least it was realistic.

Hey, just thought everyone would like to know about a cool little thing the programmers did for us.

Units are now listed under neath the transport they are on when you right-click. So, you know exactly what's on each transport. It's very nice.

A good change that I noticed about Conquests is that when the AI declares war against you, there is not a fixed amount of time that they stay mad. I am playing a game, where after the AI declared war on me, I came in a took one of their cities a file tiles away from their capital. I was gaining cavalry together to take their capital, and a few turns later they wanted peace. I have been at war for maybe 7-8 turns. When I wanted to see what they were offering I could have one of their cities that was next to the city that I had just captured. In CIV3 and PTW I remember that the AI would never want peace so soon, no matter how badly you were beating them. And you almost never could get them to give up cities. I think that in Conquests the AI has been changed to allow them to try and get peace if they started the war and if they are being beaten. And of course, the choice of giving up one of their cities is a better option then having more then one taken.

This same thing has happened twice to me now.

Another nice touch is when you right click on an Army stack it groups the army unts together.

All right, here a short report of what I loved In my first Conquest Game (which ended in a space race victory)...
The new Wonders are excellent, especially making great units appear every 5 turns, they are really worth the building efforts, with those units I got 3 leaders in a matter of 20 turns....
Army improvements are really felt, the armies really are a LOT stronger then before
Improvements to the AI are also very good, It looked to me as if the game got a lot harder...
Changes in Map-Contact Trading work great, make the game a lot more intereseting, since it is only possible a lot of time later, makes for nice little regional conflicts...
new ressources improve the map, making it more attractive
Scientific leaders allowing "age of science" are a great Idea, just A pity I only got one in a game where I researched at least 1/4 of the techs first...
Even got to see one of the AI's cities destroyed by a volcanoe eruption... nice....
well, resuming, great improvements to the game, I can only recommend it to everyone...

looks of the nukes haven"t been changed, but there use has, the AI no longer attacks the biggest cities first!!!
also, was the start animation already there?
Also wanted to say the new Specialists, especially cops are really usefull and make it possible to get something out of cities that would otherwise have absolutely no productive value, Engineers are also quite usefull, especially on a wonderbuilding race...

Not sure if anyone has noticed this yet. But I got 2 great leaders at the same time. Both through tech advances. 1 right after the other. Although on the F3 screen it only shows the one, I have both of them in my capital waiting for a good wonder.

SuperBeaver --- that little white tower is almost certainly a victory point marker, indicating that the tile (in this case city) is worth victory points to the occupier. the manual entry for victory points has such a tower on a blank tile as its image.

(in answer to the question a couple of pages back)

Actually that was figured out a while ago.

Another thing I found while I was playing the epic game, is that the Dutch can't build Musketmen

Would you rather Muskets obsolete Swiss Mercs?

Although, I suppose, if you didn't have Iron, you'd want Muskets.
