1.On the template, make sure to hide the layer that has the select screen buttons. They are only there in the file, as a reference. Hide the layer, before you save the file.

2. Your width and height is wrong. Make sure to save the image at 1024x768, pixel size, otherwise, it will get stretched as you example is showing.

hope this helps.

btw, I notice that you have the roman numeral III layer hidden. You should unhide it.

Where do you get these pictures from, Hellbound? Those are cool.

That last one looks like something from Dark Sun

Thanks Hellbound. That skele does look like it was the cover of a D&D book either the 80's or early 90's even. I think I'm thinking of the DYmrak Dread, but that ones slightly different. Similiar skele different surroundings.

your title screens look great. im trying to do one of my own but its not working. i dont have photoshop and am using the gimp to open the pcx files. dont know if that makes a difference but i havnt figured out how to check the last 2 colors on the gimp. if you know a way for me to fix it id appreciate it. if not id be happy if anyone else could finish it up for me. thanks :)

:bump:
(Well it's only been 2 1/2 years, folks!)
Anyway, What I wanted to know is whether anybody who owns Photoshop could convert the template file into a .png (and keep the transparencies), so that I can properly use it in Paintshop Pro? :)
Thanks!

There is an excellent tutorial for that here. The good news is, this file will open with GIMP. Click file - dialogs - layers to see all the layers in the layers box. Here you will highlight the layer that you want to work on. You can click the little eyes to turn these layers on and off. Click layer - new layer. Make sure that the Layer fill type is Transparency and click OK. Now go back to the Layers box and highlight the new layer then drag it to the second spot from the bottom. Now minimize the whole file and open the picture you want to use. Click image - scale image and adjust the size to 1024 (width) x 768 (height), and click Scale. Now click Select - All then Edit - Copy then close the image. Go down and restore the Template file. Make sure that the New Layer is highlighted. Then click Edit - paste. If you've done everything right (and I've explained everything correctly) it should look pretty good to you now. Be sure you turn off the layer that says "HIDE. . ." before you click image - merge visible layers (final merged layer should be clipped to image) then follow the instructions in the tutorial to turn that into a finished pcx.
This is probably much more explanation than you wanted (or needed), but I hope that somewhere in this advice was the help you were looking for.

By the way Dogmouse, this was a great idea.

While we're still on the subject, when I downloaded the template, all the text was white. I opened it in the GIMP, but I don't think that would cause a problem.

Anybody else encounter this issue?

I worked with it in GIMP & don't remember a problem. Some of the text has a separate layer as a mask & I think some of that was white. Is it possible you just had a lower layer out of sequence?

I shuffled the layers up a bit, but I didn't see a change.

I also didn't find any layer masks.
