Again when gunpowder had changed warfare. distinctions between Melee and Anticavalry is effectively disappeared as discussed in other threads, (particularly this one https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/musketman-revised.654460/ Musketman revised). There is a civ however that have its own UU replaces musketmen.

IF Musketmen becomes 'short' ranged unit (As discussed) (with a movement of 3 rather than 2). what should conquistador be? originally this unit is melee with some religious perks that automatically converts city into player's religion immedeately after captured.
A. Melee
B. Infantry (actually I disagree, in the past they're mounted units, in truth they fought both on foot and mounted, and also they aren't Spanish 'Standing Army' though. rather a host of fortune seekers petitioned to the King of Spain (and also Holy Roman Emperor) to explore Terra Incognita and return with loots or land claims under Spanish Flag. (And not Holy Roman ones!))
C. Recon (with strong melee and ranged attack capabilities but slightly weaker because there are fewer men in any conquistadore host than regular tercio as discussed in the other thread https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...re-represented-within-one-hex-of-unit.659879/ .Reasons this choice is considered because they're too. regarded as explorer due to their uncanny ability to cross a dense wild terrains of Terra Incognita of the time (today, Continental Americas, The Phillipines, and parts of Africa)
D. Amphibious (A class which Naval Brigade and Marines should be in, think of Marines in previous Civ games. Simply put, because they fight overseas)

(Infantry class is Boris' idea, while Amphibious is my thinkings of ingame military reorganizations, none of which exists in original games)

EDIT: AT 14:00 I saw one person voted for 'infantry' class. So for anyone who didn't see discussions what is 'Infantry' class is. It is combination of Melee and Anti-Cavalry class that originated from discussions i've made in other threads with Boris and the other member. which he concluded the distinctions between Melee and Anti-Cavalry class is effectively ended with the proliferations of matchlock firearms eventually reshaped land battles, and the innovative pike and shot formation came to be (Boris said Landsknecht came first, and shortly followed by Spanish Tercio). This class is not available in game but i'm working on a mod project to inlude this unit). these pike and shots became line infantry with flintlocks and bayonets became available by the second half of the 17th Century. (either Before Renaissane end or when Industrial Era as Civ6 defined begins, personally I favor them to come by the late renaissance which i've also modded this era to last longer with few more techs added. This can be your modding potentials as well)
