Consequences of Razing a Corporate HQ

So what happens when I raze, say, the Mining Inc Corporate HQ?

If i do raze it, does the corporation disappear altogether? Does the AI/player who founded that Corporation still receive the corporate benefits in all the cities it has been spread to? Do maintenance costs spiral out of control? Does razing a Corporate HQ give me any negative diplo modifiers? Can the AI/player still spread his corporation after the HQ has been razed?

Thanks in advance!

why would you raze it? you'd be earning 100-150 golds top each turn. For your question im not sure maybe the corporation itself will be gone from every city i think

I have asked myself this question too.
As to why, the razer may raze it because the corporation was spread to all of his enemies' cities and doing them a lot of good, or because the city, say, is the second one of an enemy to have exceeded the cultural level of 50,000 and the player wants to insure that that AI or player does not recapture the city, or because he simply MUST settle a city 2 squares away, or for some other reason.

corporations dont always run at a profit. many times if you spread the Corporation to too many cities they run at a loss, despite the bonuses to, for example, production. I may want to raze it because i just conquered Huayna Capac's landmass, and all his cities have mining inc, and i really dont need it (my production cities are already producing enough hammers for 1 tank/turn), and the time it would take to build banks etc to compensate for the loss of gold just isnt worth it.

but thanks for the responses!

Corporate HQs could be deep in enemy territory, in a position he couldn't hope to secure, and he just wants to get rid of his opponent's economic boon.

Destroying the HQ city means that no-one will get the 4gpt per city with the corporation. The surviving branches will continue to function normally, and the cities they are in can still build execs to spread the corporation. As far as I know there are no specific diplo modifiers for burning an HQ, but otherwise it works like burning a Holy city. It doesn't eradicate the religion/corp unless there is no other city with it present.

Wow, I didn't know this. Nor did I ever know what happened when a holy city was razed. I always thought that the headquarters would just relocate to another city. A civilization's economy could be absolutely devastated by having their corporate headquarters razed and they suddenly lose 100 gold per turn or whatever it is they were getting, but still pay the maintenance.

^^Thats what i was thinking, but wasnt sure if you got any diplo modifiers (amongst other things) like you do when you destroy a holy city.

Im only now starting to get into corporations, i used to be obsessed with State Property, but i always seem to pop a great artist in the early game and i've found that keeping him almost guarantees me Civ Jewlers, which along with Sid's Sushi is my favorite Corp. The two of them together when you're the Dutch on an Archipelago map is insanely good
