I've recently finished a Perpentach game and in 572 turns I only had 2 trait changes. I was very frustrated!!!

I ain't completely sure, but they might seen to be handled by events... Wouldn't be better if they were handled like a special ability? A ability which would change your traits but as a drawback would cause anarchy for 2-3 turns. This way we could plan better our strategy.

Well the adaptive trait seems to work correctly, although it sort of comes about turn 96, 196, 296, and so on.

The thing is with Perps insane trait is that it is completely random, it could happen on the first turn and I've had it happen within the first few turns. I'm not sure what would be considered a normal number of times in some number of turns that it would change. I've had games where he did not change traits for a very long time.

I think there are supposed to be fixes to the event system (in the way they work I think) in 0.32.

I agree that it should remain somewhat random (he is insane after all). It would be more fun to have it happen more often as the game progresses. Usually at the beginning of the game turns are mostly spent exploring and hitting enter. However in the middle and late game each turn becomes more involved so not being able to rely on your traits 100% would add that sense of insanity :crazyeye:

Perpentach...
...This way we could plan better our strategy.
Huh? Somehow I don't think "planning" and "strategy" are supposed to have anything to do with Perpentach's insanity.

I think it'd be better if it was fully random and happened quite frequently, so you wouldn't know what to expect, in five turns who knows what your bonuses will look like. You're Perpentach! Anything could happen.

Well... But how insane is a 500+ turns with only 2 changes?

Note where I said "quite frequently." I think it should change more like... every 10 turns or so. Maybe a flat 5% chance to change every turn? Completely unpredictable, you won't have finished building stuff to take advantage of the trait, suddenly it's something else.

That's kinda the point. "Random" means sometimes not often, sometimes a lot.

I'd like to have a Wonder that lets the Adaptive leader trigger the adaptation.

Nah, Bals is my second favorite civ and I use Perp. I've played dozens of games with him (SP and MP). In this case, "Random" means once every 100-200 turns (although one time, traits changed in consecutive turns, and not again for the rest of the game - 120turns+).

I have entire games (quick speed, ~230 turns) that he does not change traits at all. It needs to be increased and, if not already, scaled to speed.

Regarding adaptive, quick speed, it occurs at turn 70, 140, 210. Plus turns for anarchy, so that if you had 2 turns of anarchy between changes, it occurs at +72? I think that's how it works... 70 turns of non-anarchy. I like to go industrial at 70 (my civ is somewhat developed at that point), build great lib and bone, then go charismatic at 140 for the first big invasion (insuring my adepts are ready to upgrade and my physical units are buff).

On normal speed it happens about every 100 turns or so, on the turns I mentioned earlier. I may be a little off on the exact turn, but it is exactly 100 years on normal speed for adaptive.

I don't think it's 72 on quick because you would be seeing 72, 144, 218, it probably doesn't include the anarchy period (although I've never had the anarchy for adaptive in my games, this may be because I play chieftian). Kael or someone who knows how the mechanics work for the adaptive trait can tell us in detail.

I had him change on less than the 20th turn. That means there isn't any minimum time. So he probably has a 1% chance each turn or something.

That's not so bad I had a 500 + turn game where my traits didn't change once. Before BTS that never would have happened there are a lot of things that I wish where still handled the old way then I wouldn't have to listen to my friends moaning about how it takes 200turns for his adaptive trait to finally kick in.

My most recent Perpentach game, I got my first trait change around turn 450 of an epic game. Just wondering, does Living World affect the trait change event?

I had a game where I changed once, but changed to the same traits I already had:lol:
