considering buying this game

does this game have any historical parallel? I am a history guy, for example, read Ambrose "nothing like it in the world" and am wondering if this game has any historical relevance to original locomotives, and their development, also are their original historical lines, ie trans siberian, continental, etc? thanks!

Real locomotives are in the game, but their built on dates have been changed from the historical ones.I developed a mod to fix that. However, it locks the GP38 from use as the game ends in 1970 on the American Southwest map.
