This poll is to ratify a constitution to use our team rules and laws. This poll needs a 3/4 majority to pass and become our team's ruleset. This poll will be up for 4 days and will be public. Here is the proposed constitution:

The Constitution
*This constitution shall govern the manner in which Team SABER makes decisions, and acts upon them in order to play our turn of the
save provided to us in through the Multi-Team DemoGame (MTDG).
*This constitution shall regulate all members of SABER and have no weight in the proceedings of other teams, nor the administrators of the MTDG. When there is a conflict perceived between this constitution and the constitution of the MTDG, The MTDG constitution shall overrule the constitution of SABER.

Citizens
* A citizen shall be defined as any person who has joined SABER and has not withdrawn from the game.
*Any refugees who join SABER after their team is defeated may not vote in elections or run for office unless a SABER team member sponsers them for citizenship and the Team Captain grants them their citizenship.
* All Citizens have the right to assemble, the right to free movement, the right to free speech, the right to a fair trial, the right to representation, the right to demand satisfaction and the right to vote in general polls.

Sultan

*Plays the save.
*In charge of worker moves
*In charge of exploration.

Domestic Minister
*Assigns citizens to tiles.
*In charge of city builds and city specialists.
*In charge of :science: and :culture: rates.
*First back-up turn player.

Military Minister
*In charge of :strength:, including troop movements and drafting new troops.
*In charge of battle and invasion plans
*Second back-up turn player.

Foreign Minister
*In charge of foreign affairs :)traderoute:, diplomacy, etc.).
*In charge of keeping track of intelligence concerning foreign civs.
*May appoint ambassadors to foreign civilizations.
*Third back-up turn player.

UN Representative/Team Captain

*Keeps the team updated on UN happenings.
*Votes in official UN polls based on the team's opinion.
*Responsible for posting nomination and election threads on Turn 23 of each term.

Elections
*Terms last for 30 turns.
*Nominations begin on the 23rd turn of the term, elections on the 26th, with the new leaders entering office for the 31st turn.
*Election polls must be private and posted neutrally.
*If a tie occurs in an election poll, the sitting Team Captain breaks the tie.
*No person may hold more than 1 office at the same time, except in cases where the position would otherwise not be filled.

Polling Standards
*All non-election polls will be public.
*Must be open for a minimum of 72 hours.
*Polls defining game play will be put in effect with a simple majority.
*All polls must contain an "Abstain" option.

Impeachments
*Elected officials can be impeached and thus removed from office by a 3/4 votes in favor of removal in an official Recall Poll.
*If an official is impeached, a replacement official can be appointed by the Team Captain to finish out the remainder of the term.

Passing and Amending Constitution

*This constitution will be ratified as official SABER Law if 3/4 votes vote in favor of this constitution.
*This constitution can be amended by a 3/4 vote in favor of an amendment in an official Amendment Poll.
note: we can change the names of officials to something besides "minister" after we ratify the constitution.

I think we will have a bit of a practical problem with the Domestic Minister assigning citizens to tiles and expecting the turnplayer to be able to follow them, but I suppose the Domestic Minister can delegate that responsibility to the Sultan if it becomes unwieldy.

unless we get a load of new guys in the next 18 hours who all hate this document, it looks like we've got ourselves a constitution. ;)

i just realized we still haven't come up with a word to use instead of Minister. i figured this thread is the best place to talk about this, so any ideas of what to call our leaders?

i'll start off with again suggesting Consul.

I still support Vizier.

However, we could also make it post specific. For example:

- Chief Military General / Admiral
- Chief Domestic Advisor (anybody have something better for this?)
- Chief Foreign Diplomat

how do those sound?

Chief Bean Counter ?
 That actually might be good.

So how is this:
-Military Commander in Chief
-Chief Bean Counter (or Prime Minister?)
-Chief Foreign Diplomat (this one seems a little plain yet. What about Chancellor of State)

Military Commander in Chief seems a bit redundant. how about just Commander in Chief?

i like Chief Bean Counter! i can just imagine the election threads.

how about Chief Barbarian Manipulator (bit wordy?) or Chief Ambassador?

I like the barbarian idea. How about Ambassador to the Barbarians?

how about we stick with the chief theme? so, we could have Chief Barbarian Ambassador.

btw, is Commander in Chieft acceptable to everyone for our military guy?

If we're going to stick with the Chief theme, then I'd prefer "Chief Ambassador to the Barbarians". "Chief Barbarian Ambassador" seems like we're calling our own ambassador a barbarian, but "Chief Ambassador to the Barbarians" seems like we are calling all the other teams barbarians - which is much better. :)

ok, Chief Ambassador to the Barbarians.

if there are no objections to any of the agreed upon names, i'll post the constitution in General Info Thread with the new leader names.

I think nominations should be posted just before the game starts probably, unless there is a general consensus that we want it now and just to get it over with?

From looking at the constition that's me who posts the threads, correct?

yeah, the team captain posts the nom/election threads.

i think we can wait a little bit before starting elections. we could hold elections when it seems the actual game will be starting soon.
