Hi, I've been playing civ3 for a very long time, and finally got bored. I started playing civ4, and was surprised not to see a Continental Rally point option...Is there one?

Thanks

Shift + Right mouse click.

Hmm.. that didnt work

The Continental rally point im talking about is where when a city builds a unit, the unit automaticcly goes to the rally point...is there such a function?

The way I set rally points is:

1) Click on the city bar for that particular city
2) Shift right click a spot on the map and it creates a yellow circle.

As far as I know you have to do that for each city that you want to set a rally point for. But they is a shortcut/hotkey to select all cities at the same time. I forgot it, but someone else may know. Maybe you can select all cities and give them the same rally point with the shift right click.

Personally I only set a rally point for 3 or 4 cities, because even at emperor I don't have more than 3-4 cities producing enough units to win.

I did a little research and I found these hot keys

Shift + left click on city bar (for each city of interest) = select multiple cities
Alt + left click on any city bar = select all cities
Ctrl + left click on any city bar = select all cities on same continent

SO there you go

1) Ctrl + left click on any city bar of the continent of interest
2) Shift right click on the tile for the rally point.

Hope that works as i've never tried myself. Like I said I only use a few cities for unit production.

After selecting all cities you can shift-right-click on any city (on the same continent) to clear ALL rally points.

Awsome, one more thing...Ive played a few games, and they seem to go by really fast, for example I got to 1100 AD in just over an hour on Normal game time...should i play epic or Marathon?

O yea, and when you guys play single player, do you play "Play Now!"? or Costume Game, beacause ive noticed that "Costume Game" is more like how Civ3 was

Thanks again ^^

Play the speed you like the most. It's not a shame if a game only lasts 2 hours, it's all up to you.

I always play "Custom Game", because I usually want to alter the game settings. I for example always play with time victory condition off. But if you don't want to change anything, "Play Now!" will do.

Custom Game always - just gives you more options as you start the game. Play Now! seems to be just for people starting out, or those who don't know what options to pick.

Although I want to try Costume Game as well; it sounds fun. ;)

I have always played on epic, and it seems like many(most?) people prefer it.

And custom game is a more advanced way of tweaking the game, with options like disabling some victories and adding/removing civs from the map, among other nice settings, so it's preferrable. Play now is more beginner friendly, with only basic customization of the map.

I seldom finish a normal speed game in under a sitting / day so it all about how carefull you watch your decisions / micromanage things / what you do... Military conquest takes longer time than peacefull victories.
