Back before the advent of custom avatars at this site, I used that fort (the original) as my avatar. I used it because no one else did. It became something of a given that it was mine. A sort of "un-custom" avatar.

Well, when the management approved the use of custom avatars, I decided to give up my signature "un-custom" avatar for a real custom avatar.

Believe me, this back-story is important.

I decided to change to a custom avatar much later than others, and by then Perfection had gained a rep for nicking other's avatars and modifying them for his own use. It was mostly undeserved, as he always asked first. He asked me if he could use the fort, which I thought was a bit silly (not a custom av, after all), but I said "yes."

He then took the image and added a bunch of "dodgy trees" and christened it the "Improved Pentagonal Thingy." That also means something: the whole time I used that fort as my avatar, my title was "Oddball Pentagonal Thingy."

*whew*

Now you also understand the joking between Perfection and myself over his "derivative" avatar.

A much more long-winded answer than you were expecting, I'm sure. But you now know a bit of CFC history as well. Isn't that delightful?
