Hello everyone,

I am developing a Corporation Overview. This thread will be used to share current progress as well as feedback.

If you have any front-end issues with the existing overview (which is located in the Economic Overview I believe), please let me know.

So far, I have gotten this done:

It's beautiful.

Any chance you cam get number of offices and number of franchises, in there somewhere? I guess that information isn't exactly super-useful but still.

Looking great! One big request I'd put in is the ability to quickly see what benefit an Office will grant you if you build that particular Corporation. Time and time again I find myself searching through the Civopedia because the Corporation Wonder doesn't actually tell me what benefit I'll be getting from it.

If I can elegantly add that to the available Corporations screen then I will definitely, if not, then I will see if I can stuff it in a tooltip somewhere. :)

Care to elaborate? Is this for just your civ or others?

Looks really cool and useful. Is that space next to "founder" gonna be anything?

As an aesthetic suggestion, maybe try adding icon borders around the corporation icons?

Looks fantastic. May I suggest the space used for "Founder" show the Civ name and the city it is built in and the monopoly(ies) they have in place, along with percentages?

e.g.
HTML:
English city of London with Iron 125%, Copper 100%

Which would then change to

HTML:
Aztec city of London with Iron 125%, Copper 100%
after conquest.

Really though, you've already shown you have a handle on what looks good in UI elements so whatever you come up with is fine by me.

Update:

Definitely keep the suggestions coming in, I need all the help I can get!

Looking great! So much better than the basic stuff I worked out.

Some details that would be nice:

  • A list of your corporate Franchises and Offices, indicated which civ they're with (if any) for the franchises.
  • Would it be possible to calculate the current office bonus using the office's base info x the number of franchises you have?
  • A list of which cities in your empire have franchises in them (and which franchises) would be awesome.

Thanks again for working on this!

Also, Wodhann et. al., any work on icons you could provide would be appreciated. My working designs aren't exactly inspired. :)

For the corporations?

By the way, one thing I wanted to discuss with you for a while is, creating icons to represent corporations/offices/etc in general to put in the "Corporations" tech in the tree. Currently it is so full of stuff that it isn't possible to even see half of what the tech gives, it would be better if it just showed "unlocks corporations", "unlocks offices" and such.

Great work on this Putmalk & Gazebo. I never play without the complete CPP mod set.

The Corporation mechanic is one of my favorites because it introduces a new depth to the late-game. I find it difficult to understand/compare the different corporations' benefits because the bonus information is concentrated across different pages of the Civilopedia.

See attached for a very detailed mock-up for the Corporation Overview which the allows at-a-glance comparison of which benefits are being applied to which cities. Some of the bonus may not be exactly right, but the idea here was to show who/which information would be displayed.

This looks really intriguing. Just a question: Will this be available as a stand-alone pack on top of the CP for players who don't use the CBP, or is that not possible?

Corporations and monopolies are a feature of CBP, so not at the moment. It wouldn't be balanced with vanilla.

Looks pretty sweet! I haven't been able to comment on corporation balance in a while since the release rate has been faster than I get to the Modern Era (!). This visualization will make that task a fair bit easier, I wager!

While we are on topic, a reminder about diversifying the quotes of the world wonders.

I doubt it will ever be balanced for vanilla by G, since it would require lots of work to balance it. To be frank I don't quite see it working with vanilla at all at current state, best case scenario is that someone would try to make separate balance/re-work patch just for CP folks (those who don't use full CPP) but don't hold your breath , it might take awhile before someone attempts that.

I would very much like to see Corporations separate, as I'd like to support it in my own, overarching overhaul (scattered throughout ExCE, RtP, CID, PIT, and SD) - particularly so that it can interact with Sovereigny and Prosperity. I wouldn't mind re-creating it for vanilla (well, vanilla with my mods in mind), except that doesn't seem entirely, I dunno, ethical. I am very fond of Gazebo's hard work and wouldn't feel comfortable just re-creating it - at least on this scale. Though the lack of Corporations does leave a big hole in the game :p

I am entirely in favor of separating out Corporations as a standalone mod and it's entirely possible. I highly recommend that's given some thought.

I have this idea of a large "Civ 4 experience" mod incorporating C4DF, Corporations, plus the new World Congress, and Espionage systems from Civ 5.

I think this is important. Remove the buildings from the display and have a tech req of "Enables Corporations", and the buildings unlock from this tech field being enabled (similar to Vassalage or research agreements). The offices and franchises themselves require the corporation to be founded so we shouldn't need to display them on the tech tree.

I guess your only option is joining the dark side.

I'm happy to support this. The core concepts behind the corporations (bonuses/benefits) are fine, it'd just be a matter of tweaking the numbers for each one. If we want to start this process, I'm more than happy to do the crunchy behind-the-scenes stuff.

I think hiding the office/franchises, but keeping the Corporations revealed, would be fine.

Awesome work! If possible, i would like to see this information, too. Maybe in a third tab.
