Corruption and Waste

I found out (too late) that corruption and waste eats up almost all your shields and taxes in cities away from the capital. How do I get rid of it? I built courthouses which didnt help much

You can't get rid of waste & corruption. You work around it. Corruption & waste are the reasons that specialist farms are so effective.

For 1-shield 1-commerce cities you irrigate every tile and make as many scientists (preferably) or taxmen as you can without letting the city starve.

One of my supplies of oil has just "been exhausted" What does that mean? thanks

Your oil well dried up.

If that was your only source you have no access to oil anymore.

Look at F2 (top) to see if you have others.

Edit: obviously you said one of my supplies of oil...

I just built a colony on another source of oil

Is there a map editor to add more? lol

AFAIK you can make your own map in the editor and add as much oil as you like to the following tiles: plains, tundra, desert and marsh.

I don't see the fun in that though.
