ever since I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago, my left ankle has been more painful and has less flexibility than my right ankle. ANother thing I noticed, too, is my left ankle is more painful on rainy days. I still have a limp.

A few years down the line and you'll develop real pain in that ankle. I know
because it happened to me. It's called "post-traumatic arthritis" which will
get worse as you get older. Very common in football players' knees.

Did your doctor give you a brace to wear on that foot for awhile? There are some nifty braces nowadays that you can wear kind of like a sock and nobody notices you are wearing it if you are wearing long leg pants. Did your doctor give you tips on how you can rehabilitate (like physical therapy) your foot to re-strengthen it?

Obviously if you sprain something, it will hurt later on. Depends on how fast you heal.
If you sprain an important muscle in your body, and you're a slow healer, you can't expect to be doing gymnastics a week later...
I think he's talking about the occasional pain that will stick around for years. I've had people tell me that they've had sprains then years later it will start hurting again when it rains or the weather is just right. I was told that would happen to me when I broke my collarbone 2-3 years ago, but that hasn't been the case. I sprained my ankle 2.5 months ago and I still get a slight pain at certain times. One guy said these pains that stay with you for years, a sprain is worse than a broken bone, and with my limited experiences so far I'd say that is true (but still too early to tell).

You might have broke one of the many bones in your ankle. Thats what I did about this time last year, still got the bone spur on my ankle. It stopped hurting after about a month/5 weeks, although cold weather sometimes creates a dull ache in it.
I had something similar happen a year ago. Just walk it off, and after 30/40 days it still hurts, see a doctor. You should be fine, unless... (see above)
