CRASH - Black Screen

I so tired of this game.

I've been playing for 6month without any crashes, but now I can play 5min and the game crashes.

It goes to black screen and the monitor is going to sleep. I can only turn the power of the computer and restart-

I've got updated drivers to my Geforce GT 230.

I play on the lowest graphic details in the game. It crashes both on DX9 and DX11.

What can I do??

OK, I have had very similar problems. Have you told 2k about the problem? Have you checked your system for viruses? What steps have you taken to resolve it?

Yes I have asked 2K. I have a ticket with them. I have AVG 9,0 running, so I guess I dont have a virus.

All my drivers are updated.

Sometimes I can play the game without any problems, but most of the time it chashes with in 5-20min.. It sucks!!

ok, I will put the info in here.......

1) run dxdiag and see if anything immediately pops out and send this report to 2k games
2) install and download whocrashed. Make sure your dump files are being written out. It will help in figuring out what's happening. you can see if this helps.
3) Download and install/repair the following:
Direct x 9.0c redist

4) Take your computer apart and clean the dust and re-seat memory and video card

THe dude from 2k games, said exactly the same.

I allready done that. The game still crashes.

I have this exact same problem. I've been googling a ton of solutions and nothing works! I bought the game a week after release and now just a few days it ago it keeps on crashing. I launch civ 5, a black screen appears, Windows 7 says it crashed. Please Help Us!

Hmmmm....you get no where whenthe game goes on. Try disabling the intro video. And what is your system's specs and have you opened a ticket with 2k?

First thing I tried, but hasn't helped
I opened a ticket with 2K support a week ago and we still haven't found a solution

I FOUND THE PROBLEM! It was a bad map file!

Does 2k have a way of verifying certain files, or was it just a great guess?

I just happened to make a good guess.
But I remembered, before the crashes occured I placed Veneke's standard world map file in my maps folder, and I should've placed it in the mods folder. And that caused the crashes
