I installed Civ 4, and played a game successfully almost to completion. I saved the game, went to bed, got up the next morning, tried to load my game. It crashed to desktop. Ok, no problem. I loaded it again. Crash to desktop. Fine, I loaded my wife's game. Crash to desktop. I started a new game. My computer rebooted. I started a new game, crash to desktop when the terraforming was complete.
I uninstalled. Reinstalled. Installed the patch. No improvement.
The graphics worked fine. I had no motion jerkiness to the movies. The sound was great. The game was fantastic. I just can't get it to run.
My computer:
P4, Windows XP with HT, Nvidia card ( can't remember the number off hand, but I just got the computer a year ago, and it is a good card), tons of hard drive space, 1G memory. I exceed the standards for the game. Yet it crashes constantly.
Last night, I packed the disks up. I'm going to try to get a refund. I played Civ 3. Sigh, it is pale in comparison.
ANy other thoughts? I know that I am not alone in these problems. Somewhere, Firaxis screwed up--so many folks should not be having so many problems.
