Crash on loading

So I've been able to play Civ V just fine for the last two months on my laptop. All of a sudden this morning my computer shuts down to install a windows update of some sort, and now whenever I'm loading a game, or attempting to start a new one, it freezes. When I minimize, there's an error screen saying Civ V has had to shut down. Any ideas on what's causing this/what to do to fix it? I've tried most of the various suggestions online and none of them have worked thus far... Thanks!
