Crash, probably Vista + Steam...

I've got a persistent crash that I haven't been able to figure out. Civ 4 consistently crashes when I try to load the mod.

To be exact: I select the mod from the mod list, I see my desktop as usual, then Vista tells me Civ 4 has a problem and needs to close.

I read the common issues but this doesn't seem to be one. UAC is off. I installed both the patch and actual mod, and made sure they're in the correct steam directory. I even corrected the link in the Fall from heaven directory to point to the right place.

If I use the desktop shortcut it says Fall from heaven 2 is an invalid mod folder... I've made sure this is pointing to the right place as well, but no dice.

Any ideas?

You may have (possibly without your knowing) downloaded BtS patch 3.19 which currently renders FfH unplayable.

Soon Kael will release a version or patch that is updated.

Ahhhh, yes. I did get that patch. Steam gets all the patches automatically. Thanks for the info :)

um... the same thing happens to me but... im not very good with computers and i dont know how to take off the patch.... or what a UAC is... and i dont know what a steam folder is... sorreh can someone help me?

UAC (User Account Control) is not relevant to this problem.

Steam has automatically downloaded a patch for Civ4 (v3.19) with which FfH2 is not compatible. Nothing can be done about this problem until a version of FfH2 that works with this new patch is released. Once that happens, you will need to install the new version of FfH2 to fix the problem.

The new, v3.19-compatible, version of FfH2 is expected to be released later this week. If it takes longer than expected to convert the mod then release would take longer than expected, so there's no definite date.
