First of all I have the same old crash problem as many have. Between ten minutes and several hours, the game crashes. No news there. However, as I tried to load my last autosave game, I got to a screen where the computer told me to choose a civilization. The thing was, all civs were American barbarians with Sid as the leader image! 
Has anyone else noticed this?
Before this happened, I did a new clean install of CIV, got rid of everything even in the registry. I installed the latest and greatest directx. Then I uninstalled my old (4.12) ATI drivers, restarted and installed the newest ones (mar 2006). I updated civ with the file the game gets when you use the main menu option of "check updates". It still crashes...
I checked my BIOS and it allows me to boost my AGP voltage up to +0.3 V, but it warns that it may damage the system. What's your opinion about this?
