Crashes on Beta version 9.1.17

I installed Beta version 9.1.17 on my desktop, and it crashed to desktop on turn 50 and then again on turn 80. I could reload the game after it crashed, but it seems to crash again on a later game. I started a vanilla game and played to turn 100+ with no problems, so I don't think it's a hardware problem (I have 3GB RAM and CiV didn't take more than 1.3GB in the vanilla game and in fact took <600MB for some reason later in the game). Has anyone else had a problem with CTDs using the mod? They seem to happen randomly and are not caused by any specific event. I used R.E.D., Infoaddict, Satellites reveal map v2 and TreeGrowth v4 with the beta.

P.S. had no problem with earlier versions (non-beta). I'd just like to clarify if this problem was due to the beta's instability, clashes with other mods or my own hardware insufficiency. Does VBL use more memory than vanilla?

Are the other mods up to date with the patch?

The crashes I'm talking about were pre-patch. Haven't tried 9.21 yet, but really my question is whether such crashes are a result of beta instability or lack of memory (which is no problem on vanilla)

I'm having crashes on 9.2.1 now. I have the latest patch. Maybe some other mod I'm using like Satellite Reveals Map or TreeGrowth is causing it :/

I haven't experienced CTD since the 7.x series which has been fixed (for sure).

More likely is an incompatibility between mods. Have you tried clearing your cache and modeuserdata, and starting a new game with just VEM?

Crashes are usually due to a version mismatch (mod-vanilla or mod-savegame). Savegames use a particular version of a mod, and mods are built for a particular version of vanilla. If the versions don't match, one of two types of crashes can happen:

  • A mod needs something that's not in older versions of vanilla.
Example: Playing VEM v9.2 (new) while still on vanilla patch 348 (old).
    .
  • A mod creates something that's in recent versions of vanilla, and the two similar things collide.
Example: Playing VEM v9.1 (old) after updating to vanilla patch 383 (new).
If your versions match, try the other things on the Common Checklist, such as starting a new game with only VEM.

TreeGrowth is wildly out of date, though it may still work.

Satellites Reveals Map has been obsolete for about 6 months. Satellite tech now reveals the map in vanilla.
