hey... I posted this in the strategy side, but there was no response so I thought I would try it here.

I am playing on a MacBook Air

Processor 1.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

I was able to completely play and win one game around 300 turns with no issues at all. I was on a standard size map.

I started my second civ with Inca on Earth Map on a Large size map. Now at turn 118 it crashes while I wait for the other civs / CS / barbs. It has crashed a couple times in a row.

I am headed to work now, but when I get home, I will try a new game back on standard, but was curious if anyone else has this problem?

I am assuming that maybe my Mac is good for standard and below? Also, would the graphic settings play a role in this?

Thanks for your help

I would assume that on a large map, you are maxing out what the computer can do, and it just crashes. If crashes keep happening, then there are corrupted files and you will need to run the file check under steam, and or delete cached files. Doubling your memory to 8 GB, may help more than changing the graphic setting. You could also just play in the 2D mode. There are just a lot of units and cities and buildings that create an overwhelming number crunching situation on large and huge maps.

This is all coming from a windows perspective so take with a grain of salt.

thanks

i just tried starting another game with the same size map, and I am further along on turns and no problems yet.

how difficult is it to delete steam cache and corrupted files?
