So, I start a game again with Ramsses II - getting to really like his traits - but mainly to try a war chariot rush. Beeline AH and viola - horses one tile east of capital. CHA-CHING. Easily take out two closes neighbors - Asoka & Brennus - giving me three capitols and just needing to fill in between.

Leaves 7 other civs - I wonder who they could be. Well here is who we find:
Montezuma
Isabella
Shaka
Alexander
Sitting Bull
Darius
Julius Caesar

WOW - what a crew!!!!! But amazingly fun - everyone hates each other...!!! Nearly constant warring - oddly enough my best friends are Monty, Alexander & Shaka. What a strange bloc for me to be a part of it - of course it isnt a sure thing to stay stable but Monty is of my religion and part of the AP bloc - so I expect him to behave a bit better towards me - he seems to despise his nearest neighbor - Izzy.

At first I thought it was a game that I should quit but it has been a great test of the "triangle" style diplomacy. The AP votes are hilarious - always include declaring war on someone - usually Sitting Bull.....

Ever been involved in one of a large block of crazy leaders in a game?

Oh yes, my current immortal game has turned out to be this sort of fun as well.

Fractal, but turned out to be like a pangaea. I'm Kublai Khan, and I find myself on a continent with...

- Napoleon
- Julius Caesar
- Mehmed
- Isabella (different religion of course... AP as well)
- Montezuma
- Wang Kon
- Hannibal
- Washington (poor guy)

Julius, Napoleon and Wang Kon border me. Two religious factions emmerge, and since Napoleon is turning into a powerhouse and we share a huge border I side with him. He begins picking on his neighbor Washington and I agree to join in a phony war for diplo points. (want to get to friendly to be safe) Washington bribes Wang Kon into war so I end up having to fight off some stacks. My heart skipped a beat when I saw a massive stack from Mehmed approach my borders, but fortunately he was just passing through to declare on Washington. Then Washington vassalizes to Napoleon and peace breaks out.

Then I get double-DOW'd by Julius and Isabella at the same time... my axes and keshiks got to fight off some praets! After shattering three stacks I got peace, while friendly Napoleon was in WHEOOHRN. He marked his stack of what must have been 50 medieval units through my land and to his worst enemy Wang Kon... and I had my own stack about one third the size ready. I fought alongside him and captured cities after he bombarded down the defenses, yay! Napoleon didn't seem to mind. :goodjob:

Napoleon got one of Wang's cities, I got all the rest nearly doubling my empire's size. Then we took peace and Wang peacefully vassalized to Isabella, exiled to some distant cities he took from Monty earlier. Also at this time Hannibal (from the other side of the continent) peacefully vassaled to Napoleon, the big baby.

Now I had Napoleon and Mehmed friendly, and Hannibal pleased. Isabella and Julius formed another block that was picking on hated Monty, who I bribed Napoleon to attack. Monty didn't stand a chance... the combined armies of Napoleon, Isabella and Mehmed wiped him out.

During this point I teched to cannons/grenades and declared on medieval Julius, and completely wiped him out without consequence. Then I declared on Isabella/Wang, who had just got rifles, and after a signifigantly harder war (with Napoleon helping) wiped both of them out on the same turn. After teching Infantry, I declared on Mehmed, destroyed his stack, and his rifles/grenades/cavalry didn't stand a chance. He built the Statue of Liberty for me a few turns before I captured the city. :D Then I vassalized him...

So now I stand with me and Mehmed (pleased) against the huge block of Napoleon/Washington/Hannibal, who make up almost as much land as I have! Keeping up with them is no picnic, they've gotten all buddy-buddy and trade techs with each other as soon as possible. Napoleon has a stack of no less than 100 units sitting in an old aztec city!!! Even with my large modern army my power level is 0.4 times his.

So the plan is to beeline nukes (tech to fission, then rocketry; no AIs have electricity yet) and destroy the stacks the easy way. I've located all four AI stacks in existance... they will be gone and then I will mop up. :nuke::king:

well, really humans are much more insane warmongers and backstabbers than any of these top 3 :)

so this block of bloodlusty war-criminals is what we really deserve )

Whats WHEOOHRN?

>Josuha Thats a good story, and funny. nanomage is right thought: Humans are bigger backstabbers than any AI.

WHEOOHRN is "we have enought on our hands right now"

indicates that they're planning to go to war soon

Well I finished the game in a very successful domination win. Nukes are so freakin' powerful! If you have an insane army-spamming neighbor who vassals a friendly tech whore, so he keeps his insane super army up to date, it's the only way to finish him.

:nuke:  :nuke:  :nuke:

I have never seen a power rating drop that far that fast before. And it's really not that hard to do as long as you're at tech parity! After getting Assembly Line for the all-important infantry and factories, begin with Physics --> Electricity --> Fission... and then I usually find the time it takes my Ironworks city to build the manhatten project is the same amount of time it takes to tech Artillery --> Rocketry.

Then just get all your cities building those ICBMs and you'll have a decent stockpile in no time. It only took two tactical nukes to eradicate Napoleon's 100-unit stack, and two more to take out a slightly smaller stack he had lying around. After that it was taking out the stacks of his two allies, and then nuking any city that looked like it had decent commerce/hammers or had more than four defenders. Bunkers? Bah, those cities just take an extra nuke. In the end I built 26 ICBMs and 8 tactical nukes, and launched all but six. :mischief:

I have to admit I felt kind of guilty, he used to have +17 relations with me (religion, fav civic, military ally, etc) and ended up with -60. But our friendship wasn't doing so hot at the end there anyway, with him opting for free religion while I had to switch from representation to police state in my previous war, down to pleased. At least Mehmed still likes me!

My people were happy under the iron rule of Police State and Mt. Rushmore, though Napoleon had the Statue of Zeus and the few cities which hadn't built jails yet had over 15 war weariness! That would have been more than 60  total! Of course they're doing great, though I never got around to building all the needed health buildings after the coal plants (too busy with ICBMs), Napoleon had a field day poisoning wells and sabotaging towns, and all my seafood got pillaged. And half the world's a nuclear wasteland.

Third immortal win, sixteen freakin hours (twice as long as usual) and 140,000+ score. Yay Augustus Caesar! :king:

Sometimes i feel guilty about attacking a neutral neighbor and making his cities a hellstorm of fallout. Strange how people get guilty over attacking a few lines of code.

The AI doesnt.

This game has evolved to one of the more interesting and compelling I have played - the best diplomacy game I have played. Its a real exercise in strict triangle style diplomacy. I have been alot of wars - mostly phony against rivals far away. The nice part - I am learning how its easy to manipulate guys like Alexander & Monty if you are nice to them- Monty will take any backward tech to get in a war and he doesnt play phony - he send STACKS...!!!!

Other than taking a city from everyone's punching bag - Sitting Bull - I havent really had to do any real warring - even when Julius declared on me - likely bribed by Darius I think - I sic'd Monty on him and he had hands so full I just sat back and watched. Even those aggressive leaders - Alex, Shaka & Monty voted in my favor to "Stop the War on King Lorax II"......

Having aggressive leaders on your side is very entertaining.
