Sullla's AI Survivor Season Eight - Game 4 Thread

This game in three sentences:
Spoiler :
Mansa: "Hey guys, how about I just win this game in the most Mansa Musa Victory.txt fashion possible?"
Everyone else: "Sure, but we'll have ourselves a circus performance party you're not invited to."
Mansa: "Deal :hatsoff:"

Qin dowing Sal was the biggest factor by far cause Sal was gonna steamroll Wash and then take out Mansa

Qin was doing really well until the tech coding took him out of the winning race, happens often.
I still don't think Mansa wins more than maybe 40% of his games here, this time he got lucky and saw zero aggression.
I still can't believe that Washington threw away 2nd place by making peace despite having a tech lead, power lead, capturing cities, and RETURNS cities in exchange for peace.

None of that matters for AI negotiations, they just look at overall power (Qin had more) and maybe personality matters too.
But how the war actually goes doesn't matter..so we see all that funny stuff.

I don't know, tempting to say Mansa just showed the field up today. Saladin looked really good through Boston, but Plains-Cow called him out for incompetent warmongering and so it was. Qin's backstab was arguably a substantive strategic move, but he was utterly unable to follow it up due to much-maligned teching. Washington expanded well but could not recover from the invasion. Zara had a great research rate, and a tech advantage at one point, but again, could not consolidate. As for Greece--either one, I don't care--what even happened there?

I was surprised that most of the AI made it to Iron Working/Construction before the first wars. Wonder what made the map so slow.

With Zara out of the war I don't think Washington would have got anywhere. Making peace was reasonable. Also greandiers vs knights in not a big edge.

I'd say it was a combo of relatively non-aggressive field and odd settling patterns. Zara settled toward Qin which seemed to initiate the first Dow. The one aggressive psycho did not have metals until IW and was slow as heck.

Was kind of anxious for my Mansa pick given how snug his start was, but RNGesus pulled through. And That Steel Folding Chair Moment from Qin, followed up by the Frederick special!
