creature stage egg eating

I noticed playing the other day that you could go around egg eating and gain progress on your evolution meter, 25 dna points, and not have the creature get mad at all at you. Has anyone ever done this all of thee way to finish the stage? I'm curious as to which evolution path this leads you down, it doesn't seem to register on the evolution timeline I don't think.

Whenever my creature ate an egg, its parents would automatically become 'angry red face' at me and start attacking.
