I fired up Civ1 DOS on a friend's computer and I noticed after a few games it pretty different than my Civ1 MAC that I have on my old mac.

Aside from the massively improved graphics, the AI seems smarter. Pathfinding is much better if you use the GoTo, and enemies demand you attack other AIs, which doesnt seem to happen in DOS CIV1.

Anybody else notice this sorta stuff?

I was always under the impression that the various versions (except SNES) were virtually identical apart from the presentation. Interesting info.

I play the DOS version of Civ through DosBox on my XP machine. I'm a bit confused at what you're asking though. What version did you play, and what version is it better than? You said Played Civ1 DOS, which had the improvements over your old Civ1 MAC, but then you said those improvements wernt in Civ1 DOS, so I'm confused.

I have played the Windows Version, which I think you may be talking about, but I do agree the graphics are dated, pathfinding is terrible, and the AI's are generally dumb. I'll see if I can find a way to try the CivWin version and see what you're saying.

Your post doesn't make sense. Civdos is Civdos. It can't be better than itself.

My point is: How can CIVDOS be "better" than CIVMAC as Dandenoth said, even though CIVMAC came out way later?

The point of this post is that it seems CIVMAC has slightly differently-behaving AIs in addition to the vastly improved graphics and resolution.
