CRpSuite : Playing aids and game analysis utils 2.11.0

Thanks Moonsinger.
Ha, you've just been caught not RTFP'ing (RTFP is like RTFM, but with posts rather than manuals ;)). Earlier when I announced this feature I said:

Guilty as charge! I heard that you have a new version and I downloaded it right away without reading any detail about it.

Well, since you asked so nicely...! This is something I've thought about adding but not had the time. I've actually finished GOTM early this month, so I should be able to do a little work on this. I've already done SirPleb's items 2, 3 & 4. It shouldn't take long to do this and SirPleb's item 1. I might even get a release out this week.

Thanks for considering it!

I have just released a new version of CRpSuite (version 2.5.0) with the following new features:
  • CRpMapStat : Preferences form added, allowing configuration of new features.
  • CRpMapStat : Happiness view added showing citizen happiness for each city, sorted by overall happiness to easily find cities that will riot.
  • CRpMapStat : "Open Recent" menu item added.
  • CRpMapStat : Jump to city now presses esc to move to close any open windows (I.e. the city view).
  • CRpMapStat : Jump to city now pops Civ to foreground.
  • CRpMapStat : Jump to city now ensures numlock enabled to supoprt keyboards without arrow keys.
  • CRpMapStat : Directory monitoring added (see preferences form).
  • CRpMapStat : Copying of autosaves added (see preferences form).
  • CRpMapStat : Configurable notifications added when "bad" things are spotted in a .sav file.
  • CRpViewer/CRpRings : FOW now smooth (finally, been meaning to do this for a while!)

Here's a screenshot of the bit Moonsinger will be most interested in!
CRpMapStat25Happiness.png

I have also added the .crp file for GOTM30.

Sounds wonderful Dianthus!

One problem so far: I installed the full version, tried CRpMapStat, and got a message saying it couldn't find "vcl50.bpl". There's a vcl60.bpl in the installed folder but not a 50 - something needing a full recompile perhaps to use latest version?

Thanks for reporting this so quickly SirPleb. I'll look straight into it. I've got both Borland Builder 5 and 6 installed. vcl50.bpl is Builder 5, vcl60.bpl is Builder 6. I guess I've got my build messed up a bit!

Could you try dropping this .bpl into the installation dir? If this works OK I'll knock out a now .msi/.msp.

Edit: Link to .bpl removed. Upgrade to 2.5.1, it fixes this bug!

That works! I unzipped that file into the folder and now it runs. Thanks for the quick fix! I'm off to play with it now :)

Ok that fixed my vcl50.bpl error, with the original the bpl file wasn't there.

I'm way way too tired to figure out how to get these exe's to work.\:
CRpCreater.exe -- the dos command window opens & closes before I can read it. You do have an html file but from command prompt I can see c:\games\CIVReplay but cannot cd in command window to that location, even though I can use explorer and see files there.

CRpRings -- opens but no option to read in map and no Rings htm file.
CRpSettle loc -- opens but no option to read in flle

But this works great:
-- CRPMapStat.exe

Is there a shorthand cheat sheet, DO THIS and it will work?

Thanks

PF

I love the new CRpMapStat features Dianthus, thank you! I can do a save in Civ, alt-tab, ctrl-R, then J on each city in the list I'm interested in (e.g. pollution.) Can't imagine it being easier :)

CRpCreator is a command line application. It needs parameters passed to it to tell it what to do. You need to either open a command prompt and run it from there, or use a batch file as in the example in the install dir. Having said all this, it's very unlikely you need to use this application. You only need this if you're doing something like GOTM and want to create a .crp file with multiple .savs in it. If you really need this maybe we can try again when you're more awake? :)

Yes! There's a hidden pop-up menu. This applies to the other GUI apps as well, but they also have a main menu. Just right click and you'll get the option to open a file (+ some other stuff). I really ought to write some help for these, but I'm too lazy. Feel free to ask more questions here if you have any problems though!

Cheers SirPleb. Actually it could be slightly easier! You could avoid the alt-tab+ctrl-R. Just go to the preferences form, set the "Other Dir" to the dir you're saving to and check the checkbox to automonitor it. Then everytime you save a .sav there in civ CRpMapStat will load it and pop to the front.

I have just created version 2.5.1 of CRpSuite to address the following bugs:
  • CRpMapStat : Requires vcl50.bpl, should be using vcl60.bpl.
  • All GUI apps : Icons don't appear when alt-tabbing

I haven't updated my website yet, but until I do here is a patch to be applied to 2.4.2 or 2.5.0.

NOTE This will not work if you've changed 2.5.0's CRpComponents.bpl using the above zip. You will probably need to uninstall 2.5.0 and reinstall before applying the patch!

I can't let a release go with posting a screenshot :). Here is the new preferences form that was introduced in 2.5.0:

Right mouse, duh. Like I said I was too tired to experiment.'

RCP viewer works well. It looks like I need to create a crp file for SettleLoc to work.

The problem with getting to the directory from the XPh command line was the old 8.3 naming convention problem. More than 8 chars and cannot cd to directory. For some reason command is keeping the long names instead of truncating into 8.3 file alias ala w98.

Great utilities and great support. I don't care if html files aren't up to date, they are a pain to maintain, just as long as there are reasonably quick answers.

Rather than rename directory, I will uninstall and reinstall with shorter name. It does look like I need the short name to get SettleLoc to work.

Again, thank you.

Correct. SettleLoc is used to analyze the city build positions of multple games to try to spot trends. This used to be used for GOTM's QSC analysis. It was used to create this screenshot for GOTM 20's QSC:

Cheers PF. Really I should be working right now :mischief:, hopefully the boss won't notice :).

Sweet!:) I love it! Thanks a lot!:worship:

The happiness report works great!:) I have just one more tiny request. If you have time, please add the "sort" by column feature to it. For example (see attchment), "New Stuttgart" has two sad people and it is way toward the bottom of the list. It's going to be tough to look for it. It's going to be ultimately great if we can sort (or list) it by the number of sad people. Thanks again!:)

I have just released version 2.5.2 on my website to add a feature just for Moonsinger :) :

New features in 2.5.2 :
  • CRpMapStat : Happiness view now sub-sorted by #sad, then #content.

I've implemented what you really wanted rather than what you asked for. I've made it so the city's are sub-sorted by the number of sad citizens, then by the number of content. This ends up sorting as follows (another excuse for a screenshot :)):

Uninstalled previous install. Reinstalled 2.5.

Error message with 2.51 patch:

Thanks for pointing this out planetfall. I swear I checked this patch before putting it on my website, but it doesn't seem to be working for me now either :gripe:. I'm about to go away for a long weekend of hiking, so won't be able to update it until Wednesday next week. I've just checked and the patch from 2.4.2 to 2.5.2 works OK. If you've got the 2.4.2 full install sitting around you could use that, or you could just use the full install of 2.5.2.

Love it! You have turned this CRpMapStat into a greatest utility I have ever used for Civ3. :goodjob::):):)

PS: At the moment, the link to your website isn't working. I got an error message from "Swansea University Computer Society Cymdeithas Gyfrifiaduron Y Prifysgol Abertawe" about "File/Page Not Found". I can't wait to try out the latest version.

You're welcome. No problem, just wanted you to know before others tried it. Enjoy the weekend, I don't plan much until middle, late next week.

This is a neat set of utilities. Since I often replay a game, I will write a batch file to
create the crp files for me.

Have fun.
