I usually only write in the C+C forums, and sometimes read the other Civ forums, but rarely write in them.
Since there are many people like me, who actually work on creating scenarios, graphics modpacks, etc, in cooperation with other people, there is a need to follow the threads of such projects.
What I usually do is to set a subscription to a thread, and whenever someone new posts to it, I just check out the new post. It's a great option, IMHO.
BUT;
There are certain projects where the post count might increase like 10-20 posts a day. That's equivalent to 20 new posts in my mail box (already getting 150+ spams total a day to my 3 different e-mail accounts).
What I'd suggest is, to actually have "cumulative e-mail notification" option, which would, say, send a single e-mail for every subscribed thread (or better yet, a single e-mail for all the threads), ONCE (or TWICE) every day, listing what thread has been answered, how many new posts there are, and who was the last poster, etc.
Just an idea. It would also (maybe) lower the e-mail traffic.

Yyou only get one e mail for each thread until you get back to the forum.
