Ok...so the rules will be like the "normal" cumulative quizzes.

-Number the questions.
-Ask a question only after you've given the right answer to the one before. If you are not sure if your answer is right WAIT for confirmation.
-If you have answered correctly don't leave the thread with no question for a very long time. (2 days or you will be skipped)

So....Question 1:
Who was the last Captian to visit Talos Star Group (Talos IV), and what did he do there?

Bonus Question: What is the punishment for going to the Talos System?

Good Luck!!!

James t. Kirk.

He dropped off the crippled Fleet Captain Christopher Pike.

Bonus question answer is General Order 4, the death penalty, the only one on the books.

Question #2: In what episode did the Romulans first appear?

Bonus #2: And in which episode did the Klingons appear, and which was first, Klingon or Romulan?

Answer: Capt. Christopher Pike is the last one that actually visited, although Capt Kirk, unwittingly because of Spock's "hijacking" of the Enterprise to return Pike, went to the Talos Star Group.

Naturally, the Federation made an "exception" to the Death Penalty for Spock (and Kirk), and everything was OK in the end. BTW, Pike (crippled and an invalid) was able to return to Talos IV and "resume" a young life because of the "Illusions" of the big-brained Talos people.

Bonus: Penalty for visiting Talos IV was death... ironically, as a recommendation of Capt Pike's first visit as a young Captain.

LOL, you beat me to the answer while I was typing mine, AoA!

The Romulans appeared in a pretty good episode called "The Balance of Terror" (or maybe "Balance of Terror"). It reminded me somewhat of a WW II submarine thiller, in the cloak and dagger capt. vs. capt. tactics. That episode set the stage for many future events in Star Trek, like the who "neutral zone" thing.

BTW, this was heavily influenced by the real-world events and tensions of the mid-60's.

The first to appear was, of course, the Romulans, about midway thru the 1st season.

The first Klingon episode was "Errand of Mercy" (90% sure they had not appeared before that one).

Wow...starlifter is a trekie too!!!

Your answer to AoA's question looks good to me. What's your next question. (They can be about any series/movie, not just TOS.)

I'll stick to the TOS for now, with relatively easy questions
smile.gif
.

How many siblings (brothers and sisters) did Kirk have, and in which episode did one (or more) of them make their first appearance?

Bounus: What were the name(s) and fate(s) of them?

Kirk had one older brother. George Samuel Kirk which was killed on Deneva in 2267, with his wife.

I don't know the episode though.

That's good enough. I didn't remember the full name, my answer would have been Sam Kirk, and he was killed with his wife (who dies after Kirk arrived) as you said, leaving one surviving son, Peter.

BTW, the episode was the last of the first season, "Operation: Annihilate!" It's the one where Spock was infected with the flying globs, and Bones tested a cure on him that left Spock blind... but in typical Hollywood fashion, it later turned out Spock had a 2nd eyelid that saved the day

. Kindof hokie.

To my recollection, Sam was Kirk's only sibling.

Cool.

So my question.

What did Voyager find in a Gravaton Ellipse in the Delta Quadrant, that has a special significance to Earth? And who did they find? And what was it doing before it was caught in the Gravaton Ellipse?

I'll have to sit that question out... my knowledge of Voyager is pretty spotty, but I have seen maybe 20 scattered episodes and know the general plot. I don't think I've heard of the ellipse, but my wild guess would be the an array of some sort. Somehow, they developed a way (in later episodes) to transmit compressed messaged back and forth to Earth on a monthly basis. The venerable Barkley is the "brains" behind the effort.

So this is just a shot in the dark, unless I go search the internet, LOL.

Not quite.....I'll give it another few hours before I post the answer.

(And don't be thrown off by the "not quite". You were WAY off. I mean WAY OFF!!!

FWIW, I'd be up for any TOS, TNG, or movie questions. Personally, I'm familiar with way less than half the episodes of Voyager and DSN, however.

Wasn't that were they found an old Mars craft of some kind? There was the remains of the pilot on board as well. It was on a mission of some sort but i remember that the pilot was talking to two people on the surface when the craft got caught inside the elispe. I think they were on a survey mission.

I just realized that your answer wasn't that far off considering your background.

When I said "has a special significance to Earth" YOU thought I meant talking about Voyager the ship. But I was talking about the Earth as a whole.

And the person in the Gravaton Ellipse was the ---- of the ---- in the Ellipse.
smile.gif
(Don't want to give it away.)

But your answer was pretty good....just about 4 years after this discovery.

Barcaly was VERY important to Voyager returning home...but I don't think the technology was found in the Delta Quadrant....

Anyway.....I'll give a hint. The ---- and ---- were very important to Earth's colonization of Mars, and almost destroyed the project when ---- and ---- were lost.

Bonus Question: "Picard's favorite flavor of tea is _________?"

Very Good, ComradeDavo.

I'll just give the details now. The Ares IV was found in the Ellipse as well as Lieutenant John Kelley (well....his remains.) October 19th 2032 is when it was lost. 2 crew members were stranded on Mars for several weeks before a resuce ship could arrive.

Your question.

Bonus Question: "Picard's favorite flavor of tea is _________?

In a powerful Picard accent:

"TEA.... hot.... Earl Grey!"

My favorite tea, too... long before TNG

I don't know if it's "official" or not, but I remember that Janeway made her a "Captain's Assistant" and sometimes helps to "welcome" visitors to Voyager.

She's also a friend of Seven's, but that's not official. I think Seven is helping her to one day become a "Bridge Assistant", since Naomi eventually wants to be Captain of Voyager. But my knowledge of Voyager is spotty, and there may be more to all this than what I've recalled.
