Custom Avatars and transparency

To be transparent it has to be a GIF file, JPEG doesn't handle it. As for Paint, look at WillJ's post above.

hey thanks:) , i think this might will be my final avatar.

Yay! :D Now there's no more suprises!

Yeah, I figured out that when I tried to edit a jpg

Got it:

Very easy. Go into Microsoft Photo Editor. On the toolbar there's a button for transpareny - one that has like an "L" with a brush in that "L"

Click on any background part of the avatar. A screen will pop up. If the red, green, and blue is not 255 then change it. Click "OK", save it, and you've got a transparent avatar!

I use Ulead gif animator, it lets me 'paint' on the transparancy :D Another way to do it is go to tripod.gifworks.com, upload your picture and use it's transparefyer; the way it does it is you click the colour on your image you want to be transparent and all pixels that colour are, well, made transparent :) the bad part obviously is that the background has to be all one colour for it to work (well, work effectively).
