I like it. :yeah: Where's it from?

I re-cropped and sharpened it, but its still hard on the eyes though.

I did a search for "roses", and alot of Dragonlance stuff came up (as well as about a million florists  ). I think she is a heroine from those stories.

EDIT: Actually, the second version isnt that bad! :)

I made it my avatar. What do you think? :cooool:

Just wanted to cast my vote for custom avatars. Not all of them look good, but the site is moving faster than ever for me, and it feels less, uh, childish somehow (I always hated all of those Civ1 and 2 graphics...). And more personal.

AoA, I actually think yours softens your image.

And spycatcher! Wow!

I just jumped into this thread from joe's last post backwards.... if you don't mind my saying, I had absolutely no clue what your Avatar was, Becka :(. I did see the source when I scrolled back far enough, and the big pic looks cool.... but there is just too much detail to get into a small Avatar.

PS, Joan of Arc is one of my favorite military leaders in history, as well as my favorite Frenchie since Charles Martel. :)

EDIT: Added: Joe's picture is very cool. I just did a very quick chop to keep detail, and did 7 transforms, added some blacklevel, added 4% contrast, decreased some gamma, and increased some saturation while shifting some red hue:

OK, Let's see how this works out... it's my first attempt with transparancy , and I like the shape better than the square....

I tried one just like that too, a bust shot if you will.
But starlifters is better.
I'm still getting used to my new Paint Shop Pro 7. ;)

EDIT: Whoah! I didnt see the second one!
Becka - I would use that one, the oval snowflake one.
Nice Starlifter, very nice.

All I used is my screencapture program, which I just was discovering has the ability to do transparancy. I zoomed the square photo, used Lime Green, LOL.... and clicked a single green dot lots and lots of times in a circular pattern, hoping that I could convert the bright green into transparant (see thru). The result is what you see, when I clicked the transparancy box and chose the Lime Green (e.g., the green just went away, and you can "see thru" where the green was!).

I have Photoshop (6, not 7), Photo-everything, Paintshop, etc. etc., but don't have them installed, and really can't use them. I like the simple programs :D.

Ren, This one will work, I think. I have been learning more about this stuff when making yours and Floppa's Avatars. I used a series of mathematical transformations to clear up the reduces size image, and maxed the X-dimension. The limiting fator is of course the city name, which sets the reduction amount. It is 3.6 KB, a GIF, very sharp, and clearly readable.

BTW, JPG, even at 95%, just did not do this particular graphic justice, due to the fine detail around the city and part of the name. It needs to stay GIF to look good, and a 95% JPEG is about 4K anyway, yet more fuzzy. .

Thanks, but I'm quite happy with my F117A for now :) I might dig this thread up later if I want my old one..

Your efforts are much appreciated though.

Thanks joespaniel and starlifter! :yeah:

I think it fits well with her "A vision beyond time and place" theme in her Location :). I was originally just trying to get rid of the cluttery background, and decided to experiment with transparant pixels... the sort of "fade in" effect. Spycatcher's avatar has a similar effect, but I didn't have a fancy vignetting function. :(

I might switch to Erkel, it would be fun to have him yelling at errant posters! :crazyeye:
