Cyclic Redundancy Check error in loading

Hey guys, maybe you can help me. I have been trying to install Civilization IV on my computer and no matter what I do, it gets a quarter of the way installed and then tells me that there is a "Feature transfer error." It reads like this:

Feature: DefaultFeature
Component: Civ4Component
File: D:/data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

The only option is to hit OK. After that everything stops and all files are removed. Any thoughts?

CRC error means, that after transferring stuff to your hard drive, there's again a check if everything went correctly, and this check fails. So there's a problem with the data transfer. In general this can mean
a) the CD/DVD is broken
b) the CD/DVD drive is broken

To check if it's b), just try to install anything else, or move something big from a CD to your HDD. In case you have a second drive, try using that one.
And if you can get your hands on a second computer, try installing Civ4 there, to see if it's really a problem with the CD/DVD.
