DA 05: Creationism vs. Evolution

When the majority of scientists were Christians, they were much better at wiping out diseases: vaccines for rabies, polio, etc. were developed. TB was wiped out. Leprosy had a cure developed.

I didn't want to get into this stupidity, but some things are so ridiculous they have to be called out.

Polio was cured by Jonas Salk...A JEW.

Tuberculosis is far from wiped out. It remains a major problem in some places. Just last year, there was a major scandal because of a TB infected American who travelled internationally exposing lots of people.

Leprosy still strikes people though it's rare in industrialized countries.

Now the majority of scientists believe in evolution, and we're hardly seeing any diseases cured (and when we do, it seems to be an accident). I think that this is pretty good evidence that biologists are on the wrong track, and are holding back the rest of medical science.

What about smallpox, polio, rabies, HPV cervical cancer, countless varieties of influenza...which, by the way, hasn't been wiped out because the pathogen evolves new defenses really fast.

Would you rather believe God or a scientist, born human, the same humans who lie and kill?
If you believe we we're the end result of cells becoming fish becoming reptiles becoming monkeys, I believe you are the one who should go to school. I don't have scales! But if you believe it, so be it. Just wait to suffer eternity in hell.
But if you want to be saved, pick up the Bible, accept Jesus, and understand that science is simply the work of Satan, trying to decieve us yet again.

You can't say that with integrity unless you live in the wilderness as a hunter-gatherer. Otherwise, thank science for your car, your medicine, your food, your computer, your radio, your TV, your house, etc. It's utterly absurd that you are using a medium reliant on electricity to denegrate the science that made doing so possible for you. Those advances didn't come from the same mindset that imprisoned Galileo. They arose despite it.

Science is knowledge--Greek origin.
Knowledge is the work of Satan? I think if there were a Satan, he would be the opposite of knowledge, or rather, diametrically opposed to it.

You guys realize this is a 'Devil's Advocate' thread, right?

If the knowledge was destructive, there's no reason why he'd oppose it.

Our quality of life and all of our success as a species are due to it.
It's use can be destructive. But thankfully we can also be wise .
Thankfully we are more wise than what was the imagination of a God 2000 years ago.

So why are you "playing"? You know, when one gets themselves so high on their intellectual horse that they are grinning mightily down below, the evaporation of any trace of said intellectualism leaves only the dark stain of arrogance. Sort of like what conceit does to beauty.
I'm not saying I'm more proudndly intellectual then anyone or nothin', I just like to irritate Aneeshm.

He clearly had a good view of reality, given what he did.

I think believing in a 6000 year old earth probably helped. Funny how the truth does that.

Yeah, the cures haven't been fully distributed yet.

HPV is a great example! It came to the fore once Evolution started confusing the scientists and our currently "most effective treatment" is a surgery (a stage up from trepaning, if you ask me). I think it goes in favour of my argument.

Influenze doesn't evolve, there are just lots of strains.
