Dao: Elder Elementals?

The Civilopedia says that Elder Elementals can only be upgraded from a level 5+ unit. I have several elementals at levels 10+ and I still can't upgrade. Is upgrading not available in the current version of Orbis?

I'm running Orbis 1.0, patch b.

I thought it might be related to having a Great General attached to one, but neither my standard or joined elementals can upgrade.

Right now, it seems elementals can't upgrade to elder versions in any way. I tried it with different tech and levels but wasn't able to upgrade any. They still spawn as Elder versions after Commune with Nature.

OK, good to know that new ones will eventually spawn as Elders, although I do wish these experienced elementals could be better. I found the Rod of Winds, so my elementals can still be strong in combat (I converted three mana nodes to Air).

I've been a lurker for a long time, but I didn't seriously play Orbis until 1.0b, since earlier versions crashed too often on my computer. This version is much more stable! Now that I can play a full game, I may be posting more.

Unfortunately, I am not enjoying the Dao as much as I thought I would because of the lack of elemental upgrades and the lack of magical spells, but the Palatinate has been pretty fun so far.
