DayZ

DayZ has turned into nothing but PvP now... mostly because people are dicks. I recently got killed twice when I was completely unarmed. Seriously, who kills an unarmed guy with no gear? I have met a couple of strangers who were friendly and wanted to team up, but the banditry & dickitry is insane. I'm still having fun with it, though.

I really hope the dev makes the infected more difficult and allows them to spawn everywhere, not just at loot spots.

PvP is the fun of it. Play with friends to hunt others. I was axed to death by a guy last night, but got a shot off with my CZ 550 before he finished me off. He snuck up on me while I was in my gear menu. We both went down. :3

I'm not sure what else was expected. This is the internet after all. Mouthbreather paradise.

Just played this for the first time yesterday and played a bit today too. Honestly, I'm not that impressed. I think this game is a great concept being wasted on a horrible engine. The controls are low responsiveness and non intuitive, the inventory system is clunky and difficult to use, The HUD is usable but FAR from perfect. This game probably would have been great if it had been built on the Source engine or something instead, as is I find it almost unplayable. Also, way way WAY too many of the buildings are sealed off, since I started playing it probably 80% of my time has been spent trying to sneak around zombies only to find out that the buildings they are congregating around have no entrance. The other 20% has been split between raiding the very few buildings I've found that I can actually get into and running through the wilderness with no idea where the hell I am. The good parts of the game are very very good but the bad parts are very very bad as well and so far I'm finding that the bad outweighs the good pretty heavily.

I honestly haven't tried the vanilla game or the mod, but I did watch a couple youtube videos of people playing DayZ... and from what I could see, I have no idea what all the hype is about.

The ARMA 2 engine is limited, yes, but you won't get the same feeling from any other system. Most buildings are sealed, well, because the base game engine is like that. ARMA 3 is coming soon with fully destructible and 100% enterable buildings. You can't truly experience the game until you run into other players. One bullet could kill you, or maim you, and that'd be it for you. New life.

Zombies spawn in towns when players are near, not always near loot.

I have uninstalled the game today. This game is a really good concept but as implemented I just find myself getting bored since I have no real goal to speak of. Would love to see this game adapted into a single player campaign with actual goals and objectives to complete, that would make it boss, but in it's current incarnation it seems like it's mostly aimed at people who want to fight other people. Sadly I am not really interested in that at all. If I want to shoot other players I'll play Counterstrike. I played this game for the zombies but that gets old pretty fast without any goals being set.

I played for about an hour and had had some pretty good fun. Sadly I didn't get a chance to meet up with some friends, but I didn't enjoy the scavenging and exploring. I found a M1014, but I much prefer the hatchet I found.

I like hatchets too. Unfortunately they don't work that great in a gun fight.

I didn't actually encounter any other players. I heard a gun fight though while near the power station on the North side of Elektro. Any sensible player would've run, but I had a hatchet and wanted to explore the power station so I ignored them and just crawled whenever I heard gunfire. The worst thing I did was when it had stopped for maybe 30 seconds I'd get up and keep crouch running.

We all knew wit was coming, he's mentioned it a lot. Nice to know I can still play along with it as a mod for Arma II as I'm trying to keep myself from buying more games.
