It isn’t over yet. Germany has the UN though I doubt they’ll ever hold a vote, or at least not win it. Even though it’s getting close we still need to build cultural improvements. It’ll shave off a few turns. I’ll switch Jerusalem to research lab and than work on Seti.

IMO we should continue research on techs that provide culture. At least for a little while. Even go for Nuclear Power to increase our production. We may be doing great, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to win.

Either way, great job MV! Madrid is no longer a threat. Should I just raze the rest of Spain or attempt to control it?
 
If Germany was played by a human they would declare war and try to get Spain's vote that way. Fortunately the AI isn't smart enough to do that. I think we should send the troops back home to defend against Germany, they are the bigger threat now. I am surprised that Spain didn't try to bomb our convoy out of commission. Good job team.
 
Pre-Turn: Wake all the boats and head them towards the other side of Spain. Switch Jerusalem to Research Lab. Hire some policemen and engineers.
IT: Wasn’t paying close enough attention and Hastings riots. Spain sends three destroyers and a transport near Bangalore.
1822: While we’re waiting for our transport, we go ahead and raze Seville. Looks like Seville had Smith’s. Jerusalem short-rushes to get the Research Lab in one.
IT: We renew the RoP deal with Germany. Jerusalem Research Lab>Seti Program. This drops our win date from 1982 to 1979. Spain lands four TOW’s and a cav between Exeter and Bangalore.

-WW is kicking in like crazy. Next player needs to deal with happiness. SF is currently rioting but will come back next turn.
-I wasn’t able to fit everything on the transports so there are still troops in Spain. Two flak, two infantry, four tanks, and eight Spanish workers.
-At the end of this turn our MPP ends with Germany. I suggest we keep that indefinitely to keep them on our good side. One problem with this is we’ll be screwed on ww. This will also keep the UN vote inconclusive.
-No beakers have been gathered towards Nuclear Power so it can be switched if that is preferred. I was thinking of getting a nuclear power plant in Jerusalem so we can build culture faster. At this point in the game I’m wondering if it would be wiser to instead switch research to 0% and buy Miniaturization from Germany or just research it. This will get us building the Internet a little quicker.

0) 1830: Military costs are killing us. We certainly don't need any more. I switch the military builds to labs wherever possible. I also disband obsolete units to lower costs. Nuke Power won't do us any good. Yes, Germany will probably beat us to the internet. However, Mini is the prereq to Genetics and the AI rarely if ever researches Genetics. Those two wonders will help us. Cancel the MPP with Germany so we can make peace with Spain. We do so, extracting 660 gold. We then trade Spain rubber for wine and dye, helping our happiness.

Another reason to make peace with Spain is that as long as they are the second largest, the UN will remain deadlocked. If we were to pass Spain, Spain would throw its vote to Germany and we would lose.

2) 1834: Germany and Spain make peace. I am building aquas and hospitals in towns and cities to make them larger to support more units. I'm also joining workers, since we have enough slave labor now.

3) 1836: Keep going with the plan. Trade incense to Spain for 31/turn.

4) 1838: Otto calls up to demand 61 gold. We have plenty, so that's no problem.

5) 1840: Germans build the Internet. The troops are all home now. Something else to keep an eye on...Germany has nearly 75K culture. Fortunately Spain has some culture of their own, yet another reason to let them live.

6) 1842: Germans declare war. They overrun Dover. They have 3 SoDs bypassing Barbaria. Our artillery can damage them, but can our infantry hold? I'll leave this to the team to see if they want to play it out. I have not made any moves yet.
 
I don’t know if it would help, but we can sign an MA with Spain. We can get it for our World Map and 583 gold. It might divert the German’s a little.

Unless we can stop the German’s we’re screwed. We have some 80 odd turns to hit 20k and it won’t happen with the Germans on our back. Try the MA with Spain and throw up some speed bumps in front of the Germans. Remember to win we only need Jerusalem, that’s it.

I’d pull out of the east and the southwest. Sacrifice those towns if we have too. Maybe after if they take a few towns they’ll be willing to talk peace.

I don’t mind attempting to finish this one out. Who knows, we may get lucky.
