DDS Nvidia plug-in help

So I've used GIMP but just didn't get the feel for the functions. I would do work in Paint Shop Pro then paste in Gimp and so on. But the Photoshop DDS plug-in works for Paint Shop Pro. But it doesn't seem that the Alpha's work. I assume its the same nvidia pop-up in PhotoShop. Are my settings wrong? I mainly need it for textures like units and leaders.

The settings look as they do when I use the Photoshop plugin in Photoshop. Maybe try Paint.NET? It has built-in DDS support, I understand.

Thanks. How does your alpha look though? Is it all black or the checkered pattern? Does you DDS load with layers? I just get a single image surrounded with black and it doesn't look like the Alpha is working.
