was a request by Gaius Octavius, so here comes the Mosquito

model has 657 vertices and 890 triangles, one 256 texture (and a 128 gloss)

scale on picture was 0.55

even there was a fighter and a bomber version, i actually use the avenger animation (included in the zip, http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=190826), but because and don´t know how to do (one works, but not both) i use static propeller. Is there already a two engine fighter animation out?

Edit new zip (Mosquito with own animation), this time with both propeller animated. this is no new animation, it is a changed avenger animation, so there are still gunfire and bombing runs. All credits for making this animation goes also to the original author.

What i did: in the Avenger animation there is a by my models unused node, called MachinegunTurret, this node is animated, with the same modifier like the propeller. so i used the KFM editor to create a "new" Mosquito animation and changed the entries in all kf files for the turret to the values of the propeller. and it seems to work. Both probs work and the rest of the animation, too. PLEASE test this, if it works like it should and if somebody sees problems with my method, say it.

BTW, a fighter-bomber made of wood (I checked the Wiki)?:confused:

The problem is (so far as I know), there is no two-engine fighter animation... the only way to animate a two-engine fighter is to use the bomber animation... but if a two-engine fighter "intercepts" an enemy plane, it will drop bombs on the fighters own city!.
 
run also in this problem, so i used at least the standard propeller graphics, looks at the first glance like a working one.

was always a favorite of me (but it seems i have a strange taste, almost all planes i like are said to be ugly or have funny nicknames :lol:)

The mosquito is also one of my favorite planes. The unit looks really well done. :goodjob:

Probably why they altered some for torpedo duty aboard carriers. :)

Look for the P-38 Lightning animation. It has two animated propellers. Don't know if it uses the bomber animation or what, but having the props spinning is more important than the intercept problems anyway.
 
Could you not just delete the "EFFECTS" nodes in the Nif to keep the Bomber cum Mosquito not drop bombs?

i am no fan of this, so at least i will not link a two engine fighter bomber to the bomber animation

not exactly clear what you meant, but i can say i had an other idea how to alter the animation (without 3Dmax). I am not sure if it will work 100%, but at least because of this change i a have the Avenger animation now with two rotating probs in the "idel-sequence" :), so perhaps there is no need
 
That would be great!

What I meant is this.

Afaik, when in the Nif, to have the effects, they have to have a node in the the Nif with the proper name. So as the Bombs are a Effect, if you delete the proper node, the bombing effect may not "work", which is what you want.
 
updated the first post with changed avenger animation (called Mosquito), now with two working props. Because of the fact, i tried something new (at least i think so), be careful

thanks for the explaination, i didn´t wanted to use this, because than i can´t bomb and at least by my submarine the shipsare still hit from the nonexisting and not firing gun (deleted the node)

and now back to the Me110 (now with an animation i can use :))
 
downloaded and added 'Mosquito_with_own_animation' to my game. it seems to work fine, both props spin and the animations for bombs and guns work. shows up correctly in civilopedia.

after there are some downloads but no reports of errors, the animation seems to work. i will use it for the next two engine fighters or fighter/bombers

I know if you used the old bomber animation for two-engined fighters, you would get a "bomb run" during interception... I take it your new animation gives the proper MG during fighter intercepts for two-engine fighters?

I wonder if it's possible to "reverse engineer" this old P-38 Fighter to use this new animation file? It would be nice, as it was a very good model, but had no proper animation.

a rework should surely be possible, somebody offers itself as volunteer?

Edit: seems a lot of work, because the P38 has a lot of parts :(, is no 2 minute job, so sorry, i will not do it

Well, if it's too much work to reanimate the old one, I request a new P-38 then! ;)
