Dealing with threats from other nations

I like that poll format. Also, I believe that we should not give in to any threat unless:
a) Our border with that civ is not secure and all our troops are elswhhere.
or
b) They have a signifigantly stronger military than us(at least outnumbered 2:1). It is by all means possible to win a war having a mildly weaker (outnumbered 1.5:1) military, I have done it beforeon my own games.

I'm not so sure I like the proposed polls. Seems like we might end up locking ourselves into a system we may regret. I think we need a little more flexability built in. I really liked having the other nations classified from rouge state to most favored nation in the last demo game. If we had a (flexible) ranking like that here we could then make our responses to the *requests* based on our attitude towards the *requesting* nation. We could give in to MFNs but tell rouge states to pound rock salt. ;)

The way I look at it, the instant another civ threatens us they temporarily become a rogue state and a potential enemy. Regardless, this issue needs to be resolved and polls posted by the next turn chat. Maybe we could add stipulations that the first threat from a MFN we would give in to, but then their status would be revisited.

My only suggestion would be to change the "right next us" into something more like "close enough to attack us within 10 turns".

Or within striking distances between 4-6 tiles away
