Debated of the new leaders traids.

Personally i think at this stage , with over 30 + Leaders , having Forbidden combinations is redundant. Single Player , just upper your level if you and multiplayer either don't play as them or do play as them since there are several very powerful combinations now. Philosophical Industrious is a combination i would really like to try . Creative- Philosophical with the Greeks is another . Half Price , Libraries, theaters,Odeons and Universities ? Amazing.

I second that we'll never see IND-PHI, and probably never FIN-ORG.

I'm excited that we'll get EXP-IMP.

I am not sure who will get what as traits. Since you will be able to play any leader as any civ that really won't matter to me. I do think the forbidden 3 will remain locked out. Which would explain why there are exactly 3 combos not going to be used. I am guessing

1. Ind/Phi
2. Cre/Phi
3. Fin/Org

Frederick is Organized & Philosophical in Civ 4 Warlord.

Thanks for correcting me Tronicoz and Gaius Octavius.

In that case, Abe's will be, to me, Industrious/Charismatic.

Any news about the new civ's still to say and what will be there combs traids?

I'm thinking they will probably change what some of the traits DO. Not give us new traits, but rebalance all the existing ones so that the so-called forbidden combinations aren't so overwelming. Probably by making other trait combos stronger and more useful.

Protective for example would be much more useful if it actually changed how forts work for you. ROFL (forts are a pet peeve of mine and need to be changed period) Or if it had a different promotion for gunpowder units. First strikes are countered a LOT by that time period.

Expansive? - what is the point of a free scout if you use the option to turn off goody huts? Or later in the game in any event. How about my units move a bit faster instead? +1 movement to land units would be amazing.

Just two idea. Maybe not well thought out ones, but both changes would do a lot to change game balance

??????????

Have you used the expansive trait? I think there might have been a trait like the one you describe in Civ III.

There are a couple of reasons why I think that it would be better to nudge traits towards the middle tier rather than making all non-top tier traits stronger. Make some traits stronger and others weaker.

1) It would mean making less changes. Only the traits which are very strong or very weak (relative to others) would require altering. If all traits are razed to the top tier a lot more traits would need to be changed.

2) The affects of adding new elements to a trait can be difficult to judge, but for a strong trait we already know the elements that make it strong and it is much simpler to propose a weakening affect. So the overall affects of the changes would be less uncertain since some of the changes would involve weakening stronger traits instead of only strengthening traits.

Some proposed changes:

Financial: 1 extra commerce on each tile that produces 3 (or 4) commerce or more. Regains its half price banks.
Charismatic: Retains its happiness bonuses. -15% XP required for each promotion (so that the second earned promotion is still at 5XP).

according to the chat Augustuses traits will be changed which will open up Org/Cre (right?) that could possibly Hammurabi's traits

My money would be on Suleiman inheriting that combo.

Abe as Cha and Phil best bet. Thou Phil and Exp could work as well. His goal for ending slavery originally was to expand the number of free states in union (or better put preventing the joining on slave holding states) so it could legally be ended. Phil clearly, but there are some nice choices for his second trait other then Cha. But I guess it depends if any other leader gets Phil and Cha in BTS. Maybe Protective and Phil.

Agreed: Perciles Phil + Creative hands down, I want the traits that best represent me back :)

Agreed Willy the Orange Fin and Exp

Pacal I'm not sure about, Phil and Indust one of those "forbidden" trait combos. Would say Protective and Industrial if didn't already exist for china or Indust and Exp if not for Bismark. Maybe Creative and Exp just due to the work of their workers and their creative ruins :P

Hammurabi - Org and Charismatic, I say Cha simply from lack of other good second trait, other then existing combos already (like Org + Imp or Org + Indus)

3. Organized (O) + Aggressive
4. Creative (Cr) + Charismatic
5. Imperialistic + Charismatic
6. Philosophical (Ph) + Charismatic
7. Expansive + Creative
8. Financial (F) + Creative
9. Philosophical + Creative
10. Protective (Pr) + Creative
11. Financial + Expansive
12. Industrious (Id) + Imperialistic
13. Philosophical + Imperialistic
14. Protective + Imperialistic
15. Spiritual (S) + Imperialistic
16. Charismatic + Industrious
17. Philosophical + Industrious
18. Protective + Organized
19. Protective + Philosophical
5) is Cyrus. Why is Cha/Imp there?
