The Barbarians are everywhere.

It is my duty to protect our peoples from the Barbarian hordes.

Basically we need more units and to o this we need more cities, which is not part of jurusdiction. So basically it is up to me to explore.

I like the picture ...

I whole heartedly support the call for more units  ... I would think that the 3rd and especially 4th city will be placed on military training

Run for the hills!!!! Has anyone noticed this missing barbarian??

We have no defence :(

The barbaros will get a little gold. At worst, they sabotage production of worker. The best thing to come out of this is your splendid representation of the Ptolemaic system. oh yeah - we don't know that yet....

Ptolemaic ... wait for Kepler

I agree with Peter_Grimes ... we should change the (STILL un-Named  ) (good one prez  production to wealth production

I am a little concerned that our military types failed to keep an eye on these raping reavers :spank: ... this should not happen again :nono:

We should also not over react to this and fail to build our floating fleet of nautical eyes ...

Information just gleaned from the sub-Department of Minor Races, Clans, Tribes and Cults (small closet office actually and in the basement) ...

The barbarian savage approaching The Black Hole is a Suren and NOT related to the Asssyrians nor the Ligurians, which we have recently disturbed ...

Therefore this Citizen appologises to the Minister of Defence for previous comments which could easily be misconstrued ... no slight was intended ...

Feaurius III
Foreign Minister and Proud Citizen of MIA

We need to build some warriors now. This was something I was afraid of. That is why When I was Pres, I put that city to warrior. We need to get that western Warrior to destroy the barbarian conclave. We need more units and now. We will get Iron next turn, so I think we will need to try and find a source of Iron so we can start building Swords to hunt Barbs out. We cannot do much with this one right now, so we must allow him to attack our city. From now on, All settlers will need to be sent out with at least a warrior protection. Do not forget that when a team goes into the next age, there will be a horde produced as a result, so we need to portect our outter cities from barbarians.

EDIT. Both cities must build Warriors.

I agree to Black Hole producing Warrior after the worker, and then the Coastal producing alternative ship and warrior (in that order) ... But I still think Athens should remain Masked Settler Factory (every 6 turns) ... or whatever Chamnix's charts of production show ... Lets not loose ourselves in  'The Sky Is Falling' panic scenario ...

Well we need protection, because if we allow the brbs to be able to take our workers, then we have lost all that we have been working for. We must build a warrior first then a worker at Black Hole.

This post is a follow on the discussion in the Foreign Minister's thread, but since this will speculate on purely military matters, I think it's best to talk here.

Depending on who we meet first, we may have different postures:

Donuts: Mounted Warrior (horses)

No-Namers (TNT):Immortals (Iron)

KISS: Gallic Swordsmen. (iron)

I'm most nervous about meeting KISS first, but they are really lagging in VP's. If it weren't for their VP deficit, I would advocate a policy of Non-Harrassment. They won't be able to send a horde of KISS GS's.

TNT (Non-Namers) are a different story. They certainly have two cities, and maybe even three. Immortals could be a problem if they started to flood down on us. Especially since we won't have a barracks up for the foreseeable future.

I'm not scared of the Donut Mounted Warriors. I wonder if I should be?

And lastly, as General W suggested, turn it around. If we were one of the other teams, would we view the MIA's as weak right now? Would we have an incentive to attack? With the UU, would we be in a position at this point to try to squash the mighty MIA?

Question - What are your thoughts as to when and how the Athenian Goody Hut will be popped?

Warrior or Natural City Expansion?

I dont think anyone would want to attack us just yet. But ofcourse if they did we would have no defence. Fortunately, I cant imagine the other teams having much of an offence just yet. I imagine that the teams will be more eager to ally and get use of our powerfull defence then to attack us just yet.

Probobly Cultural expansion. How much longer till athens expands?

About that fortified northern barbarian (assyrian?) I wonder if he's fortified because of something his buddies see... I wouldn't attack. I would try to go and skirt him a little bit to peek around.

I'll tell where each unit goes. The warrior from TBH must try and search out where the barbs are situated. I would move NW because it seems that is where the Barbs came from. Once we know where it is, then send the warrior back for portection of the city.

Not sure of the reasoning here... if we are not going to clear the camp, why the urgency to find it? If we move him out right away, we must raise luxury spending and cut into science. If we keep him as MP and wait 2-3 turns until Athens reaches size 3, then we will have to increase luxury spending anyway so we can send him then without slowing down our research.

This makes the most sense to me.

But I'm open to hearing C_H's argument.

It seems Rik may have been tricky with his rescource placement. Firstly, it is obvious we will be doing alot of trading of luxuries, but we also have 2 iorn. If the iquiros also have 2 iron it means that the celts and persians will be desperate to get their hands on some. Rescources could be very inportant to this game.

As I posted in Foreign, we may have stumbled onto our neighbor's iron. Two of our neighbors need iron for their unique unit. The other one needs horses. I would like to see us grab the northern iron ASAP!

If you have noticed that there are five sources of Ivory, so it could be that their are more single type of resource than there is for each team.

Fe333au suggests:
West = 'Warrior - Ligurian Reapers'
North = 'Warrior - Assyrian Bane'

I like these names - but as the Defense Minister, Classical Hero, I think you should get the first shot at naming these units.

Let me know what you want them to be called.
I intend to name them next turn – so please let me know what you'd like!
(If I don't hear anything, I'll go with Fe's suggestion)
