Deity of Random - Try 1

oh snap, those sets went by fast--does that mean I'm up next?

And yes, mercantlism will be really good here.

@ Rusten:

Yup, you are up:)

Looks for roster... ...there it is

Snaaty
CellKu
Flo played
Rusten up
Obsolete (lost in a cottage somewhere)

...

Important tasks:

Wallstreet, spreading our two relis, spreading sushi, whipping infra, preparing war on bull, more troops (and ships), vassalize ramses (will give MT), steal railroad from ramses, build FP in former Egypt, settle barren spots (anything with some landtiles)... ...and lots more I cant remember / never knew:crazyeye:

...

To consider:

To reach dom. limit we have to take on either zara or peri (or some small islands from both)... ...how:confused:???

Won't it be better postponing getting more troops until we have AL? Frigates and the like are also quite useless atm--we might as well wait until combustion. We're currently paying 70-ish gold for units so why not postpone more drafting until AL? 60 riflemen should surely be enough for SB although some more cannons can't hurt.

The consensus is to vassalise Ramesses? It sounds wise seeing as we can steal some techs (already have 5k EP on him).

I am back at 3.13 btw, so no need to update. Had some trouble with my assets folder so I needed a reinstall.

I agree with Rusten that the rifles we have right now will be enough to take on SB and we should definitely have a look at our unit upkeep. And upgrading much more then 60 units seems illusive.
(On the other side if we draft infs we will loose 2 pop per draft, so we could draft more if we draft rifles (and upgrade them later). And I am not sure how much more time we have considering that Pericles is teching so fast.)

I like the idea with vassalizing Ramses. Get as many techs out of him as possible, so we don't waste all these nice spy points... :)

Given all the sushi food losing 2 pop when drafting is not an issue--only happiness is as we will regrow in no time.

We could also stay at war with him, or just sign peace and finish him off later. Ramses is weak but probably he will not vasallize to anybody else since his relations to most of the other AIs is cautious or worse, IIRC. And he must be friendly to vasallize

We could take on SB easily with our standing army. Maybe we need some more cannons, but we should be able to finish him within 2-3 turns.

Do not forget the barb cities. We need to take them before somebody else does and most of them have one seafood too. We could also consider settling some more cities e.g. east of Tokyo to claim more land...
The war against SB is 2nd priority imo.

As soon as we have comb and AL we should take on Zara.

While continuing the war against Ramses is certainly an option, we also have to think about war weariness. In that respect vassalizing might be the better option.

The barb cities are definitely important. And I remember that during my turn Pericles took one over. On the other hand, 1-2 Galleons would be busy sailing around to take these cities. Can we do without them for our war against Zara? Moreover, they will be lightly defended (I doubt we can station many troops in every city AND go to war with Zara), thus they are easy targets for Zara's counterattacks. However, that could also be a good move to distract him from attacking more valuable cities. So, in the end it might be worthwhile to take them asap... :)

we can also trade for MT with Han since he is friendly again
Then we'll have to remember to trade MT before the capitulation. Hannibal isn't friendly with Ramesses so we'll get wfyabta with him again (not that it matters--he'll never research anything stuck on that tiny island).

Seems I'll be playing a quiet set taking out barbarians and settling islands. Any reason why we have so many intelligence agencies queued up though?

I think you can also start the war against SB already. Our fleet and army should be big enough

Any reason why we have so many intelligence agencies queued up though?

Did not know what else to build

There is no need for units.
Universities and libraries would have no effect in these cities (slider between 10% and 30%).
Trade multipliers such as harbors and Custom house have been built already.
Basic infrastructure such as Courthouses, barracks, forges... is also already there
So I thought IntAgencies would be a good choice and at least contributing to our spy points. Regardless of the commerce situation of that city... no specific strategy behind it. We could also produce science or gold...

Not much to add... ...most things important have been mentioned

Concerning what to build:

I would def. advise to build/whipp libs, unis, markets, grocers because we need the scientists/merchents they provide to stop growing once sushi is settled in the city so we can stay in slavery and dont have to switch to caste...

@ Rusten:

Feel free to play your round

Those cities will be running sushi specialists soon though, so specialising in :gold: and/or :science: might be a good idea. [x-post with Snaaty]

I guess I can try to squeeze in a war vs SB as well--he shouldn't be that difficult to handle.

I will play tonight then.

Played 8 or 9 turns.

- Start off by capitulating Ramesses for MT as we agreed.
- Prepare most cities to whip markets and pause any int. agencies who were just started.

Turn 257 / 1735 AD
- Pericles completes the Apollo Program

Turn 259 / 1745 AD
- Napoleon is no longer in WFYABTA, but unfortunately he doesn't want to trade railroad regardless.

Turn 261 / 1755 AD
- Ethiopian revolt in Vienna. It's a pretty horsehockey city so not a big deal.
- Pericles completes the Internet, SS Life Support and his GA has come to an end.

Capture a barbarian city.

Settle a city (a WB is working the clams by now).

sgd20003zh3.jpg

Turn 262 / 1760 AD
- Successfully steal railroad from Ramesses. Our first spy failed, but the second succeeded.

Turn 263 / 1765 AD
- Capture another barbarian city.

sgd20005oh3.jpg

Turn 264 / 1770 AD
- Capture another barbarian city. I decided to end my turns here as there are some things to discuss. Be aware that I did not draft infantry yet--I decided to leave that to the next player as he might want to do the logistics by himself. The turn should be more or less dealt with other than that though.

A) I still put EP on Ramesses after stealing railroad. The idea is to steal combustion as well--I already put 2 spies in his city but we might want to add more in order to not waste time in case they fail. If we steal combustion we can go straight for industrialism instead and make minced meat out of Zara with our production/huge empire (drafted (Tokugawa) infantry+(whipped sushi) tanks). Currently it will take 12 turns, but our research rate is steadily increasing turn by turn after whipping markets and running specialists so it's probably less. Getting WS up will be huge as well.

B) I didn't attack SB yet. His navy was troublesome (scouted with an airship) and he isn't going anywhere. We can take him out whenever we want whereas the barbarian cities could've been claimed by Pericles. I decided to go for them instead. Most of the riflemen are returning by now though, so if we want to attack him next we're free to. Personally I think it might be better to wait and instead focus all of our efforts on Zara. Pericles on the other hand is out of our reach I believe--he has researched Robotics now (I saw a mech. inf.). Fortunately we won't have to attack him for domination.

PS. Our WS city just completed a forge so hire an engineer as well before ending the turn.
PS 2. I made the FP on the Egyptian island. I believe that's what we agreed upon. I did a check before deciding and noticed Zara has the Versailles, so that means we can take his continent and not suffer too much from maintenance/col. upkeep.

We might want to put EP on Pericles now or after we steal combustion in order to sabotage his space ship parts. The way things stand right now we will probably win by domination--but we have to watch out for Pericles launching. We can either choose to sabotage his parts by cranking up the EP slider once we have what we need or we can raze his capital after he's launched (or both). Overall it's looking quite good now. I haven't felt very comfortable playing this game as I'm not used to island maps like this, but it's looking OK for us atm.

You are playing at crazy times

Good that have we the barb cities before anybody else could take them :goodjob:

Question:
How comes that our economy improved so strongly over a couple of turns From 340 beaker (and + 130 gold) to 710 beaker? Cannot be the whipped markets only, can it? Are these the beakers from sushi-specialists?

@ Flo:

Science slider from 10% to 30%. The money comes from the markets which multiply the trade-route benefit. Think you underestimated that quite a bit:lol:;)

Once we have all science and money buildings up, we should be able to maintain science at 50-60% and should get about 1200 - 1500 beakers together with the sushi specialists:p

You guys are awesome players. :goodjob:

Btw - in Flo7's screenshots there's additional info - is that a mod or something else?

Just had a quick look at the save during lunchbreak...

We are spreading suhi all over:goodjob:
Our relis are bringing in about 50 gold, even without wallstreet:goodjob:
Our army is already in a quite good position to strike for Bull´s islands:goodjob:
We are recovering our econ quite fast due to markets, libs and co.:goodjob:

...

My ideas (as I think I´m up next):

I think I can strike strike out for Bulls northen islands and the remaining southern islands (except to ones on Zara´s / Peri´s island) in a quick and bloody raid, involving some heavy drafting in the right places... ...should be doable within the next 6-10 turns, just to bridge the time untill we can crank out tanks and kill Zara. Then I would go for peace and jump on Zara ASAP we have tanks, like Rusten suggested.

Would be my idea for my set... ...take the islands from Bull, research indu, draft new army of infs... ...prepare assault on Zara. Taking out Bull completely we can do later or simply leave him the cities on the big island, because we would get killed by Peris + Zara culture anyways. Maybe we can even vassalize Bull when his islands are gone, but that isnt really important. Important will be the war on Zara, once we have tanks and a decent army of infs:D

In parallel, I would da a last round of whipping missionaries before switching civis and go on building sushi guys and infra to keep our econ growing

I would revolt to merk at the beginning of my set (2 turns), because that would be the best way to slow Peri down, and Theo (+1 turn) because of the heavy drafting I will do. I also agree with EPs on Peri after the last tech-steal...

...

Opinions???
