Played 8 or 9 turns.
- Start off by capitulating Ramesses for MT as we agreed.
- Prepare most cities to whip markets and pause any int. agencies who were just started.
Turn 257 / 1735 AD
- Pericles completes the Apollo Program
Turn 259 / 1745 AD
- Napoleon is no longer in WFYABTA, but unfortunately he doesn't want to trade railroad regardless.
Turn 261 / 1755 AD
- Ethiopian revolt in Vienna. It's a pretty horsehockey city so not a big deal.
- Pericles completes the Internet, SS Life Support and his GA has come to an end.
Capture a barbarian city.
Settle a city (a WB is working the clams by now).
Turn 262 / 1760 AD
- Successfully steal railroad from Ramesses. Our first spy failed, but the second succeeded.
Turn 263 / 1765 AD
- Capture another barbarian city.
Turn 264 / 1770 AD
- Capture another barbarian city. I decided to end my turns here as there are some things to discuss. Be aware that I did not draft infantry yet--I decided to leave that to the next player as he might want to do the logistics by himself. The turn should be more or less dealt with other than that though.
A) I still put EP on Ramesses after stealing railroad. The idea is to steal combustion as well--I already put 2 spies in his city but we might want to add more in order to not waste time in case they fail. If we steal combustion we can go straight for industrialism instead and make minced meat out of Zara with our production/huge empire (drafted (Tokugawa) infantry+(whipped sushi) tanks). Currently it will take 12 turns, but our research rate is steadily increasing turn by turn after whipping markets and running specialists so it's probably less. Getting WS up will be huge as well.
B) I didn't attack SB yet. His navy was troublesome (scouted with an airship) and he isn't going anywhere. We can take him out whenever we want whereas the barbarian cities could've been claimed by Pericles. I decided to go for them instead. Most of the riflemen are returning by now though, so if we want to attack him next we're free to. Personally I think it might be better to wait and instead focus all of our efforts on Zara. Pericles on the other hand is out of our reach I believe--he has researched Robotics now (I saw a mech. inf.). Fortunately we won't have to attack him for domination.
PS. Our WS city just completed a forge so hire an engineer as well before ending the turn.
PS 2. I made the FP on the Egyptian island. I believe that's what we agreed upon. I did a check before deciding and noticed Zara has the Versailles, so that means we can take his continent and not suffer too much from maintenance/col. upkeep.
We might want to put EP on Pericles now or after we steal combustion in order to sabotage his space ship parts. The way things stand right now we will probably win by domination--but we have to watch out for Pericles launching. We can either choose to sabotage his parts by cranking up the EP slider once we have what we need or we can raze his capital after he's launched (or both). Overall it's looking quite good now. I haven't felt very comfortable playing this game as I'm not used to island maps like this, but it's looking OK for us atm.
